AyeReadyStu 70
Anyone see Murray and Rosol today? Rosol bumps into him at the net and Murray responds audibly with "No one on tour likes you", everyone hates you"

cushynumber 25,178
got a streamhttp://www.vipleague.is/tennis/301904/2/murray-vs-kohlschreiber-(atp-munich)-live-stream-online.htmlbuts its pissing it down in Munich. This might not get played today although both players are out - I would imaging playing on clay in rain, isn't as bad as on grass - so maybe its do-able? - but you can see both players looking about saying "what the fuck!"edit - they are away back inside. WadeWilson 4,670
Murray in a clay final?!? Is it Kohlschreiber (sp) he is up against?

WadeWilson 4,670
Just read that Murray had to play two singles matches and a game of doubles yesterday and plays the final today... Wow. And some footballers complain about playing two games in a week in a team sport.

Tennis players also get about a half minute rest between every single point.

AyeReadyStu 70
Pretty sure It was Compton on here that claimed tennis was more intense than football lolololAs someone who's played both, tennis is more tiring than 11-a-side football, 5-a-side is pretty similar to tennis though. But tennis lasts longer than 5-a-side.

(Yes I'm aware you get a break between games in tennis). Tennis on clay is far more tiring than 11-a-side on grass.

Tennis players can play 3/4 hours fairly comfortably without any greatly noticeable drop in quality whereas it would be impossible to do this with football. This, by definition, means football is more intense.

dummiesoot 16,123
Ffs different types of fitness required. The changes in direction and strain on tennis players bodies totally different from the odd kick. Tennis players do much more intense sprinting, footballers are effectively middle distance runners when you look at stats circa 8k to 10k metres per match. Tennis players to keep going for 4 and 5 hours at time every two days at a slam latter stages is beyond comparison.
TheKingObv 10,670
If football is more intense than tennis then why are the top tennis players better athletes than the top footballers? Clearly don't get what intensity means then Overall fitness required for the sport has absolutely nothing to do with the intensity of the sport. Top tennis players may well be fitter, but that's due to the requirement of needed to play 4hours+ if required (which is only humanly possible due to a lower intensity than football)

Top tennis players may well be fitter, but that's due to the requirement of needed to play 4hours+ if required (which is only humanly possible due to a lower intensity than football)Tennis is much more akin to High-Intensity Interval Training, 30 seconds at 100% then 15 second rest, rinse and repeat over and over. Football is much more like middle distance running, 90 minutes continuous effort at 70-80%. The constant sprinting and stopping is more tiring than the conitnuous effort imo.
