Gasquet simply playing better when it has mattered so far.

Important set here for Murray with the home crowd behind Gasquet. Don't think Gasquet has ever beat Murray over 5 sets, so fitness levels could come into play if Murray takes this.

Gaquet looks like he is tiring but that commentator not Mcenroe is fucking jinxing Murray all the time and talking pure shite.

He'll come good.

Its infuriating, but it's what Murray's game is.  Something just seems to get into his mind. He just cant seem to concentrate for a full match at times albeit being the better player.

Im going to go there...only cause its true...Lendl has been the only person so far to be able to eradicate that from him.

Gasquet has played well though

Ive never played tennis is it more demanding on the red ash than grass or just the same?

Both are demanding for different reasons.

The ball tends to bounce higher on clay giving players longer to get to balls so rallies go for longer. Usually favours the fitter players, and puts the power players at a disadvantage.

Grass is a much faster surface because the ball bounces so low, so almost the opposite of clay where the big hitters have the advantage. This is why winning the French then Wimbledon back to back is so rare. Takes a special player to complete that double!

Hard courts tends to sit in the middle and the bounce of the ball is predictable. So outwith weather conditions etc it usually just favours the better all round player.

*deletes post* beat me to it!

You could add in a couple more variables eg sliding on the clay and grass, but all in all that a very accurate breakdown :541:

harder on clay get alot less free points on serve etc rally's that go 5/6 shots on grass usually go 3/4 shots longer on clay as it's difficult to hit through opponent's

Last 2 seasons Murray has played better on clay than American hard courts.

never thought I'd see that day.

the Australian open must be his only grudge in the game.

he has won everywhere else that we all thought he would, obviously not as prolific as the other 3, but to lose 5 slam finals in the same tournament must be galling.

stan. Played 2 slam finals, won 2.

thats rare I'd think for somebody cat his age and stage of his career.

Stan will be a massive test for Murray, playing well and no surprise he's turned up. Cushy will be shitting it after his comments pre tournament. :pipe:

I think andy will beat him. Typical of Stan though to go on a wee run though - but he has not really played anybody to get to the semi at all. In fact none of the top ones have really its been strange year - Chardy, Troika and Ramos-Vonolas should not trouble Wawrinka in any tournament -particularly on clay - and they didn't.

Andy ,however, is very capable of beating himself, and if he is too passive Stan will take advantage
