KaiserJon 12,780
Have been fortunate to be invited to this years Derby. Do not have a clue about the horses-any tips to make me look less of a pudding greatly appreciated. I looked online and there are prices already for the main race. THE_Ibrox_Preacher 2,812
I'll perhaps do a little research and post my thoughts for you however I'm the first to say I'm hit and miss. IF I do so I'll give you a level of detail beyond the horses name, that way you have a few talking points that could make socialising easier or that draw in some better info from someone wiser than I. Horses are a steep learning curve as you can appreciate, on the course though you do get the chance to see the horses prior to the race, hear the odd course whisper, spot trainers and owners arriving expecting a show etc. etc. Of course it helps to know what to look for, what to take note of and who to look out for. The main thing is to enjoy the day out as these tend to be good fun, just don't shag your joint account while you're at it!
KaiserJon 12,780
Greatly appreciated-at the moment I will probably base my bets on what the horse looks like in the parade ring and the colors the jockey wears-that's the level of my knowledge! centenarystand 2,229
I was at the Derby a good few years ago. Its a great sporting spectacle but unfortunately its so packed its like standing in the Rangers end at Hampden in the 70s, couldnt get a drink or anything to eat it was that busy. Been to Royal Ascot a few times and facilities are a million times better. At this stage im looking at Ulysses 7/1 and Wings of Desire 9/2.
