Reformation Bear 6,453
However much he (admirably) looks for positives as well as (continuing) to say we must continue to learn the nose and the tail of it are (a) evidence of learning ie giving away fewer goals and taking more of the goal scoring chances we create is not in plain view. Translating 'learning' into 'learned' does not seem to be a quick or very evident process. And (b) we lost c£30m worth of talent which has not been replaced. Despite repeated references by King, Smith, McCoist and others to the player-value of talent that left Ibrox the efforts to build a 55-winning squad are well short of replacing that £30m of talent. King clearly has not made substantial £Ms of his fabled £30M available to MW and McP to spend - for if he had MW would have a better CB, possibly a better RB too, and a goal-scoring striker - in each case first choices from a pool of better quality players. Having become pretty predictable on tactics games against better sides may mean we may not be able to impose possession football on them and even if we do we are still vulnerable to counter-attack. I've not so far seen evidence of a re-formed defence capable of dealing with this) and we still fail to take enough goal scoring chances (MW never talks about a No9 so an out and out goal scorer does not seem to be one of his priorities. Then again, if he hasn't got the money to go get better players then we are where we are and its all down to whether he can get enough out of the squad to win 55 on the cheap so to speak by saving DK having to fork out some of that fabled £30m.
