Think about it- they claim allegiance to a nation that didn't even exist when their forebears arrived in Scotland, a nation that doesn't want them and has made absolutely no effort to "bring them home", not that they would want to swap Glasgow for Cork or Galway anyway because as much as they profess to despise Britain, they know which side their bread is buttered on. They know that , one way or another, they are dependent on the British state for their living. So they are trapped in this love/hate relationship with the country in which they live. An abusive relationship in which they are the abuser. The end result is a sort of festering schizophrenia. They must publicly hate and attack everything that they perceive to be British, whilst privately they count their lucky stars that they were fortunate enough to be born into a nation that is willing, not only to tolerate them, but actually indulges them.
