Quinn30 0
I have created a petition for the SPL to be increased to 16 teams. I would ask you all to please sign the petition, and for you to ask all friends and family to do the same, and also post the link to as many places as you can. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/SIXTEENTEAMSPL/
demise 3,718
16 teams means 30 rounds eh? And not 4,only two Old Firm games... That would make things easier for the club but.. i`m not sure i want to sign it.. Welcome to the site btw

kerzzo 4
I'm not sure if I would be for a 16 team SPL Yes is would be great if our league was larger than what it currently is and to do away with this crap split season that is occuring. But realistically who else outwith the current teams within the SPL would be able to cope financially Look at Gretna they were living a fairytale which became reality and are now on the brink of going out of the game completely after only 1 season getting into the top flight

docspiderman 1,308
No thanks, I do not want the chairmen of teams like Dunfermline, Livingston, Partick, St Johnstone coming back in force and dragging down the spl with their over inflated egos, opinions and small minded business sense once again. Danny 9
Downside is it just adds a further 4 rather weak teams. A St Johnstone can get themselves up for a SC semi, but week in week out against Arbroath they're just a wee team. Increasing the size would only be feasible if such teams were going to get better stadia and better players. And Gretna is a prime example of what can happen if it goes wrong. Some of the teams in the first division Thistle, St Johnstone, Dumfermline, Livingstone and Clyde already have better or at least equivalent stadia to teams currently in the SPL, and that's not including Den's Park which holds 12,000 odd but is a abit of a shithole apart from the 2 newer stands behind the goals. Hamilton's is actually one of the worst capacity wise. St Mirren's new stadium is also downgrading in size from over 10,000 to 8,000.
J_RFC87 764
No thanks as well It will cost us money to play more much inferior teams. Plus the financial loss for clubs like St Mirren, Killie etc will be very hard for them.

Some of the teams in the first division Thistle, St Johnstone, Dumfermline, Livingstone and Clyde already have better or at least equivalent stadia to teams currently in the SPL, None of whom are in the top 2 in the first division. My point stands. Pun not intended. and that's not including Den's Park which holds 12,000 odd but is a abit of a shithole apart from the 2 newer stands behind the goals. They're second but a mile off the Accies. Hamilton's is actually one of the worst capacity wise. St Mirren's new stadium is also downgrading in size from over 10,000 to 8,000. Adding 4 of these teams to the SPL, in their current state, would weaken it beyond what it is already.
Mike Newells Sexist Army 2
I highlighted stadia in your quote because i was making the point that's one thing they don't really need to upgrade. I made no mention of the quality of their players or how they would do in the SPL.
