disgruntled_bear 157
PEDRO MENDES matched his Parkhead wonder goal with a stunning strike in Inverness on Sunday. Now he’s targeted a repeat of the 4-2 win at Celtic Park to breathe new life into the SPL title fight. Mendes hit the opener in the 3-0 victory over Caley Thistle which put Gers within five points of the leaders. The Portuguese midfielder believes Walter Smith’s men must win EVERY game before next month’s Old Firm clash. And he believes Gers are capable of another away win against the reigning SPL champs. Mendes said: “Our challenge is to win all the matches before the derby at Celtic on February 15. “There is a difference of five points but it is possible to overtake our rivals. “After the defeat at home against Celtic, we lived through some terrible days. But now that problem is forgotten and we believe the title is not impossible. “We are optimistic and our challenge is to win all the matches until the split in April. “The matches against Celtic are always special. We failed in the last one but I am totally convinced that it is possible to triumph at Celtic Park. “That is my dream and I repeat that the fight for the title is very open. “If Celtic believe the championship is over then they are very much mistaken.” Mendes has specialised in stunning long-range goals since arriving at Ibrox. He scored an extra-time winner in the Co-operative Insurance Cup at Firhill and sent Gers on the way to victory in the Highlands. He added: “My goal against Inverness was beautiful. “But my objective at Rangers is not to score goals — it is to help the team win the title. “I am more interested in success for the club than personal success. “The coach congratulated me after the goal and that was very important to me. “Now I will try to repeat the feat in other matches.” http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/ho...icle2097575.ece
Danny 9
Ok, all the other players we have who have been slagged off for this kind of media performance... Will we be consistent and slam Pedro for it too?

Danny 9
FFS.....i believe Pedro cause he's a real footballer hate it when some of the no-marks open their gobs and let their bellies rumble and besides this was the after match interview Let me just get this straight. You believe Pedro because he's a good player? Just so I am clear, what is it Pedro's saying that you believe to be true, that the others said that you believe to be false? After all, if everyone's saying 'we want to win the league' how can the majority of them be lying about that and only Pedro is being honest? They're all saying the same sodding thing, and that is my point. It's just that when yer Adams and McCullochs say it, it's bs, but when Pedro says it it's the truth, simply because he's a better player? That makes no sense, not on this planet and probably not on Mars either. Put plainly, I wish there was a lot less talk to the media - it's like these guys are Hollywood stars and think their opinions are important. Sadly, thanks to the media, they probably are important. Guest
Ok, all the other players we have who have been slagged off for this kind of media performance... Will we be consistent and slam Pedro for it too? what i find funny on here is if u never of had made this comment, people who r slating Mendes for speaking to the press wudn't have done so, its like a bandwagon effect because people dont wanna be deemed as hypocrits for praising one player and not the other i personally dont bother myself i like seeing stuff from credible players who i play r of rangers quality and r pulling their weight in helping the team to win the title. and we cant help the fact that players r in the papers in the first place as they r forced to do this for PR for the club. Why the club feel as if this is neccesary is crazy. Why club for that matter.

I believe Pedro because when i watch interviews with some of the gers it seems as if they just spout the usual pish that players say for the sake of it in interviews. but when i hear pedro talk he seems to believe what hes saying, he seems more confident and assured. You could believe pedro will go out there and give his all in every game more than say... burke, who hardly even gets a game.

BlueIsTheColour 35
Isn't this the newspapers just regurgitating snippets of his post-match inteview rather than Mendes actually speaking tothe press? Therefore you cannot really equate that with the likes of Boyd and McCulloch who are in the press nearly every day without fail talking themselves and our title chances up. SUPERCOOPER 115
He is talking about the teams objectives and aims. And his desire to obviously win the league with Rangers - nothing wrong with that.

ManchestGer 347
I'd rather hear it from Mendes who is actually helping us to beat teams when we do rather than fringe players who have done nothing so far this season to benefit our team and probably wont contribute from now till May to determine whether we win/lose the title anyway.
