  1. You know I still don't think a mass clear out is needed. I think we need to move some sure. We need 5 or 6 real quality additions and we need them to be mainstays in the team. A lot of these players could be decent squad options. Look at Walter Smith's team last time round, he had players like broadfoot, Healy, edu, Novo, Whittaker etc... If you surround that with the quality of bougherras, jelavics, davis, ferguson, etc they bring everyone else up. Don't get me wrong this team have been shitebags this year and I'm not sticking up for them, but I still feel quality over quantity is the most important thing this summer.
  2. First of all, delighted with the appointment, it's a gamble but I think he's got the mentality that we have been missing. Always looked like the ultimate pro and I hope that carries over into management. Now my question is... What's your thoughts on a top player becoming a manager... Some random names to consider that I've been thinking about... Johann Cruyff Edgar Davids (Barnet) Rino Gattuso Terry Butcher Zinedine Zidane Paul Ince Are you a fan of it or not? All I can think of is the club's ambition has to match the manager and the names above sort of prove that. What are your thoughts?
  3. Think she'd be great wherever you have her, in the dressing room, on the bench, on the pitch, seems quite flexible all over really and I'd bet shed be willing to play from the back too. Great result for this club.
  4. Not really surprised as I guess they have nothing to play for and they'd rather use some of their own. I didn't see anything great from beerman when.he played. Thought he looked a step down from Wallace. I'd say John looks about on par with Wallace maybe a little better but none of them are good enough long term.
  5. Excited lol on what basis? How many summers now have we been excited. Last summer everyone thought we'd be challenging... Look how that's turned out.
  6. I said this in another way on a different thread. I realise it's pretty rare to bring through a youth who is good enough for the first team, but we had a better standard of player before. While I'd love a Barry Ferguson, where are the Charlie Adam's, Allan McGregor's and Alan Hutton's of the world. I still think our youth development could be so much better. Would be amazed if any of our under 20s could step in and enhance our first team.
  7. I'm not being funny but a 34 second clip doesn't really tell us the full story. Also the last thing I can think of criticising Morelos for is not working hard enough.
  8. Also as I mentioned physicality is something we lack. If Jason holt was the same player he is now, but 6 ft tall and strong he'd be an incredible player,
  9. On the whole it lets us down, thought we put in some decent corners today. We lack physicality in our team imo. The men Vs boys last week wasn't just about ability. Height and strength played a big part too. Add those and suddenly our deliveries will seem that bit better as we will start to win some of those balls.
  10. Brings energy to the team, I think it's that lack of end product that holds him back. When we are dominating teams but they put 10 behind the ball, he doesn't offer a lot. That being said great today, definitely a decent squad player, however as a club we need better quality in the side.
  11. remember the talk of him being linked with big moves when he was 14-15. Never came off. Glad he's had a decent season, albeit at berwick, should be in or around the squad next year
  12. A fair point, if you believe that though it's all relative, we still have a good budget that should easily beat the other side's bar them. We just aren't using it well. I'd say there are still good players who could be signed on a bosman. I know Joey Barton didn't work out, but it shows players are attracted to coming here. A player who had just had an immense season chose to join us. We should be doing more to bring in young talent. There's a few in that team that are home grown and contributed. Use a scouting system to try and find a few bargains. Most importantly add quality where it counts. That team is hardly full of world class players, but it's got a team of internationals/players who have played in big leagues and done well. I still think it's achievable for us to get good players in.
  13. Load of Shite? It's not though. Im saying everything we currently do is wrong. From boardroom down, it's wrong. You said 3 years is not enough time to get youth into the first team, I'd argue that 3 years is more than enough time. If the current lot of the elder batch of youth can't do that, then they aren't good enough. Then that filters down. If the next batch aren't good enough to replace folk in that group then they won't be good enough. If you think what we do at that level is acceptable, we'll agree to disagree.
  14. And the track record of the other guys appointed? Jobs for the boys all round. As for the youth system 3 years and yet a grand total of zero faces in the under 20s side who are pushing to get in the first team. Part of the youth system should be having under 20s who are capable of pushing for that and coming in to challenge for places. We shouldn't be talking one or 2, we should be talking 5 or 6. Comparisons to other youth systems are mad. Our budget is far superior to most in this league, so we should be able to attract a decent calibre of youth player. Our first team is underperforming, so it shouldn't be difficult for these leads to push to get in the team.
  15. Some questions good, some are embarrassing. Asking about Brenda and the arsenal job. Fuck off. I'll admit I skimmed through it, the answers I read just summed up why's he shouldn't be here. 'I'm giving Andy a bit of space' fuck off he's no your bird, have it out with him, be grown men. Sort it out. Basically players are allowed to challenge him, but in a respectful manner. if someone is hurting that's not always the case, fucking man up and deal with them, don't go greeting to the board because you aren't capable of dealing with them.
  16. I disagree, I think the youth system is a joke, the calibre of player is nowhere near good enough. There is a lot of work to be done. By my reckoning 3 players have been 1st team regulars in the last 5 years. Mccrorie, McKay and MacLeod. In my opinion we need to be doing far better than that in terms of numbers and quality. We are not finding the right talent and rather than challenging for a place in the 1st team they are going abroad and playing other youth teams, which are basically glorified friendlys to those sides, winning them means nothing. The older youth sides should have been competing to win things, what did they win last year? As for the scouting system, we brought in jobs for the boys in the summer, we had a January window which was the most unimaginative window ever. The truth is in terms of finding players abroad we are useless, the likes of hibs, Dundee and Motherwell all do a better job than us at finding decent foreign talent. The only foreign player we signed was Morelos, out with pedros signings, JJ identified him, what have our other scouts done?
  17. By all over the shop I meant disorganised and chaotic, lacking structure and delivering very little/nothing.
  18. I think your getting confused Darcheville, cousin and cuellar were all here during that run. They would have won the league too if it wasn't for that run and having no help from.the spfl. (Cheating bastards) A lot of the following seasons signings were funded by that run and cuellars sale. Anyway the point being, we were in contention for the title and look how far the 4 things I mentioned can get you. (I'm not saying we will get to a European final again anytime soon)
  19. I wouldn't trust guardiola to turn it around at us, that's how bad it is. A good manager is only part of the problem. Potters job has been remarkable but he's in a job with zero expectation. It's the total opposite here. I'm by no means against it but it's definitely a gamble. It's the kind of appointment this board would make too, which I don't mean to be a slight on potter, a manager who is relatively inexperienced, with success, throw them in here and hope it goes well. Meanwhile our youth system, scouting network and boardroom hierarchy will continue to be all over the shop.
  20. Absolutely probably the only player who I've seen on this topic that I'd actually like to see us sign. For me there are deals to be had. You look at the team that played in the uefa cup final I've put approximate costs, probably got some wrong. Alexander 500k Broadfoot free Weir free Cellar 2.25m Papa 450k Hemdani free Whitaker 2m Ferguson one of our own Thomson 2m Davis on loan at the time Darcheville free Bench Graeme Smith not a lot, (McGregor was also here of course and he was free) Daily free Adam one of our own Faye loan Boyd 400k Novo 400k Jig 2.25 mill A squad for about 10 million. When I look at that squad it tells me we need a good scouting network a youth system that actually brings through good players a manager who gets the best out of his team and knows how he wants to play. A board who are prepared to/are capable of paying, decent wages. We do none of the above 4 things at the moment.
  21. Also I thought Trainor left the club years ago. What is his actual position these days? (For the record I wondered what the fuck he was doing when he was in the role those years ago)
  22. I genuinely think worse and I know it's not a popular opinion. Maybe Warburton looked more capable at one stage, but he was a total disaster in the end. I'm not sticking up for McCoist and his record, but that result along with progres was worse for me than getting beat in division 3. It just feels like after each manager we have to start again and rebuild... Each manager having more expensive duds than the last.
  23. I don't disagree with most of what you say. I think the last thing we need is to rip it up and start again, at the same time I wouldn't be sad if any of the players left. You say a better manager would get more out of the team, I don't doubt it. Like when Walter Smith came back, he got more out of those players than plg. He did however want his own men in and I think that will be the way for any new manager. The problem is that the board don't have the cash to bring the calibre of player in that we need. If they were running us well and selling players when there stock was high and gradually improving us, I'd perhaps be more patient. We are not improving though and I've seen amateur clubs run better than us. They have no plan and are not up to running this club. It's a shambles from top to bottom for me. I don't see any other way to improve it without mass change in all areas/levels
