  1. I think he's largely remembered as someone who died for absolutely nothing. The IRA surrendered, his "comrades" have lived long lives and some of them even took the Queen's shilling. Bobby Sands is a joke figure.
  2. Like yourself you don't want to go on and on and the whole thing gets tiresome but it was very much part of the "dehumanisation" process we've seen time and time again. Forgive me for using the word "dehumanisation" as i'm aware it appears hysterical and over the top but it's true. A journalist in a national newspaper completely fabricated a story that Rangers fans "used children as human shields" and every two-bit journalist in the county lept to her defence.
  3. Bates as a deep lying midfielder, playing the "quarterback role" is definitely a goer. He's basically a ginger Xavi.
  4. You might well be correct but as a defensive midfielder he may well be the best we have? I certainly don't think Jack is good enough to play that role for us. I suppose a lot will depend on summer recruitment.
  5. I'd say that's our best three. I'm not sure Dorrans can get around the pitch well enough to play in a two and the physicality of Mccrorie and Docherty should release him to play closer to the opposition goal.
  6. And he was friends with Princess Anne. I'm fairly certain he something along the lines of "I'm not going to not be friends with her because some socialists in Glasgow don't like it".
  7. Men who planted bombs and maimed women and children, in a futile attempt to enforce their will using violence, walk free or are given government positions and salaries, while young soldiers who were doing their best in an impossible situation, are dragged through biased enquiry after enquiry. Thanks Anthony Blair.
  8. His "adrenaline" did fuck all for him in the old firm game he did play. He was pathetically weak and off the pace.

Well why did you initially mention it. Let me re-phrase it then, David Bates would never be good enough to play for any team who had qualified for a major tournament. On a serious note, why do you rate such shocking players? You do realise our defence is awful? You do realise he's a major part of our defence? Do you watch much football? The boy is a Scottish first division player? He looks like he uses all of his concentration running in a straight line.

That's one more game that David Bates will ever play at a major tournament, never mind for a winning team.

Yeah I thought I'd been saying "I'm incredulous". Good of you to point it out though. Using phrases like " big boy word" makes you look really impressive.

Yes I meant to say "I'm incredulous". It's not easy being stupid. Good of you to point it out though.

Yes? It's bad news when you're on a football forum trying to correct people's grammar and getting it badly wrong.

This sums up the moronic element of our support. It's actually funny. David Bates is "miles ahead" of Bruno Alves. Good Lord.

Our defence is awful and he's been the constant in it. It's actually incredulous that people think he's a player. And even more incredulous that people think it's okay he can't pass or control a football.
  16. He could be an excellent player in a good team doing the simple things with maximum efficiency and a little bit of class. Unfortunately his ego/attitude took over and he started to think he had to run the show all of the time.
  17. That's the second time when he was guilty of trying to do far too much. First time around, sitting deep and recycling the ball, he was excellent.
  18. If Lee Wallace is on the field we will struggle to get 55.
  19. Ferguson was an excellent player. Obviously good for us that he stayed for so long and then came back. Part of me however wonders where his career could have gone if he moved to a better club than Blackburn and stayed in England, or even went abroad. As a deep lying centre midfielder, I think he could've played anywhere. As a guy he was a bit of a dick and he got way too big for his boots but that's as much a failing of management as anything else.
  20. It's probably not a coincidence that those two brands don't feel they need a presence in Scotland.
  21. Generally with long term injuries it's insurance. The whole insurance thing is a minefield with all sorts of policies taken out by clubs and players themselves. I had a friend who worked for a company insuring rugby players and know of someone who had to give up due to injury in his early twenties. He bought a house with the money and was then pursued by the insurance company as they claimed he was actually fit to resume his career. Ended up being a total nightmare for him and he had to sell the house and give the money back, about £200k in our money.
  22. Fuck off. Complete prick. He's hardly getting injured intentionally. He's a young guy who's had a lot of bad luck, he's our player and we should do our very best to help him from both a humanitarian and business point of view. And anyway, he has a contract so how exactly would we go about "getting shot of him"?
  23. Bloody hell? Were you at the game? We sat in, they were poor, Hutton was bang average. The most notable thing was the renditions of "build my gallows" which were louder and more consistent than I've heard before or since. Our only really chance was kenny miller but he took 20 minutes to get the ball out of his feel and banged it against the keepers legs. We possibly deserved a draw but was certainly didn't "take the game to them" and Hutton has never made any midfield look amateur. In fact, when we were down the leagues and actually playing amateurs, he made them look professional.
  24. Agree with all of these. Bayern at home was a sickener, a horrible deflected free kick right at the end. Bayern away we actually played even better than the home match but just didn't take our chances. The Cup final against Hibs was just a pathetic waste. No way Rangers should be throwing away that lead in a cup final to them.
