  1. Dont know if posted elsewhere : Craig Whyte remains keen on completing a proposed takeover of Rangers - despite frustrations that previously targeted dates have come and gone. Whyte had initially expressed a desire to do a deal by Christmas and then, when that failed to materialise, before the end of January was mooted. The absence of a formal offer has led to speculation Whyte's interest had come to nothing. But BBC Scotland understands he hopes to finally take over by mid-March. Millionaire Whyte, who was raised in Motherwell, is a lifelong Rangers fan and made his money as a venture capitalist, began negotiations with current owner Sir David Murray in mid-November. It was said at the time that, should the proposed offer be accepted, a payment of about £27m would be made to Lloyds Bank to clear the club's debt. In addition, £5.5m would be offered to shareholders, of whom Murray, who paid £6m for his controlling interest in 1988, is the principal figure. Rangers chairman Alastair Johnston, following his own meeting with the potential buyer in December, appeared to conclude that Whyte's proposal was more credible than the previous interest of Andrew Ellis. Ellis is involved with the latest bid but will not put any money in up front, although he will have a 25% stake in the shareholding bought by Whyte should the takeover succeed. Despite Whyte remaining hopeful of a successful takeover, Rangers manager Walter Smith's hopes of a cash injection ahead of the closure of the January transfer window were dashed. Continued financial restrictions under the present regime meant that Smith had to make do with loan signings and free agents.
  2. Although its late in the season, we need a fresh set-up with the new players. I'd be very tempted to go with a 4-3-3. Diouf and Healy playing either side of big Jela
  3. The fouls on Diouf would come in handy if we had a free-kick taker.
  4. Individual performances - Good Team Performance - Dreadful Result - Fucking Fantastic
  5. Last chance saloon for the big man and he might just be taking it!
  6. After their doing at Darkheid, they will now approach this with even more caution. They will also have taken confidence in the sneaky win at Tynecastle, for these reasons alone we must be on top of our game. We must start with two up front. If jela doesn't make it, we need to go with Healy or Diouf partnering Naismith. I'd go as far as to say, anything less than 3 points is really going to hand them the baton.
  7. I'll approach this one with caution, as without big Jela i wonder where the goals might come from. Diouf is more of a forward than an out and out striker and Healey may be a little rusty, thats if either even play. God help us if its big laffs up front.
  8. RANGERS have snapped up highly talented Arsenal defender Kyle Bartley on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old has been on loan with Sheffield United in the first half of this season but Walter Smith moved in to bring him north. Bartley, who can play centre back or right back, joined the Gunners in 2007 and has played just one match for them - a Champions League clash with Olympiakos in 2009. He went to Bramall Lane last season and did very well. He rejoined the Blades this season and is highly rated.
  9. Fucking ace if this guy signs A player that everyone hates, imagine the tims when he bangs one in at darkheid!!
  10. Im certain this will be a success, especially as there are so many doubters out there, he has nothing to lose. This fella has been given an enormous opportunity to have one last shot at the big time, dont let yourself down
  11. Davie is the perfect example of why Walter falls just short of the likes of Sir Fergie, he picks guys on the fact they are long term servants/buddys/signings and not on their ability here and now. All players should be equal, you play pish, you get dropped. In reality, Davie shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.
  12. As it stands we have Webster as back-up and papac can also cover there. So it makes me wonder why we need another defender to warm the bench, after all there is not a chance of Weir being dropped.
  13. The only reason he is still here is the price tag, they guy is not going to come good now, its been too long.
  14. Amazing how many folk on here fail to see a decent player when he's right infront of their eyes. Kenny made the right choice in leaving, the wages on offer here were a fucking disgrace.
  15. If Blackpool give in to an improved offer for C.Adam that may give us the funds to complete this deal. Pool expected to up the offer to 6 mill, thats 600k for us.
  16. Greegsy or Davis for captain. Its fucking painful watching him.
  17. I never start threads on here, but wanted to air my thoughts on the big man. Its been quite obvious this season that its just one too many for the him. Yes he has had games where he's looked half his age, but other times its the complete opposite. Yesterday he really pissed me off at the end when he started to throw the toys out the pram, pushing folk and flapping his hands around like a guy who was losing the plot. If he wants to show passion and fight, how about giving one or two of his own team mates a slap. Part of the blame lies with Walter though, why the fuck hasn't he rotated the defence in the lesser games and cup ties? Bottom line is, he has to be dropped.
  18. I'd start him with Jela on Wednesday night. Go on Walter, do something radical for once, give this lad a real shot a playing up front!!! Anything is beter than big Laffs up there on his own. There a few players who can make a huge impact by being given 20 minutes here and there, Fleck isn't one of them.
  19. If this guy was serious he would have pushed the deal through by now, why the hell would he stand in the shadows and watch a mighty institution scrape the bottom of a fucking barrel for loan players. I doubt anything will come of this.
  20. We just dont kill games when they are there for the taking.
  21. Jela or Lafferty need a small man to partner either of them up front. Also we need a centre back, although whats the point if weir wont be dropped.
  22. The worrying thing today was, we bossed that game from start to finish but never looked like scoring. Fuck his fitness, Jelavic has to start along with Lafferty on Wednesday. Laffs is awful as a lone striker, but you could see today how effective he will be as a partner.
  23. Either that or he has some weight in those fucking boots, the boy is brutal!! Ostenstad never had a look in.
