  1. I assume this debate is about what anthem should be played at sporting events. When it is a British team that is involved I think that is when G. S the Q should be played because it is a team made up from the four British nations, but when it is individual countries, Scotland, N. Ireland, Wales or England taking part then it should NOT be G. S. the Q and each country should use their owen individual anthem, whatever that may be. It is England & N. Ireland using G.S. the Q as their individual anthem that causes all the problems, and why Scottish fans booed it at Hampden recently, I am not saying that it is right to do so but I can understand why it was done.
  2. i could not have put it better myself. i agree 100% Well said
  3. I cannot understand why anyone born in Scotland and is a football fan would want to support any other nation than Scotland, and agree 100% with your post.
  4. Rangers have 109m issued shares currently trading at a mid price of 37.5 p per share therefore= £41m Celtic have 89m issued shares currently trading today at 41p per share therefore = £37. Celtic also have 485m of "preference shares" which are not quoted in the market but probably have a much lower value than the ordinary shares so may add anothe £5m to £10m to Celtic value. Basically the maket place sees both companies values similarly which is not surprising as they are in the same industry, operating in the same league, similar world wide fan base and have an equal chance of competing in Europe. This means future earning potential of both clubs are very similar and that is effectively what the share price is measuring and what you are buying when you buy shares in a company, a share of its future earnings in the form of a dividend. Football clubs tend to be different in that earnings require to be ploughed back into the team to ensure future earnings, thus leaving little to return to the shareholders. This is why investment in a football club is usually for the love of the club and/or status but not for financial gain. SDM recognises that realisitically he can only get c. £40m for his shares in Rangers unless there was more than one interested party and a bidding war drove up the share price but this is highly unlikely. A bit like selling your house, 2 or more interested parties gets you a better price. The buyer would of course take over the debt which probably sits at c. £30m as we move into season 2009/2010, but should come down this year on the back of CL and wage bill cuts. What we ideally need is sommeone or a consortium who are willing to put up in excess of £70m, £40m to buy out SDM, £30m to pay down the debt and anything extra to go on the team. SDM has also added another criteria that the buyer had to have Rangers best interests at heart. Unfortunately not easy to find such a beast, hence his inability to sell despite trying for several years. Another couple of good years in the league and the CL money that comes on the back of it will allow the debt to be paid down and make Rangers much more attractive to potential buyers Many thanks M8. Not being financially minded I need everything condensed into simple words of one syllable. I also found the Brubear and Boss good easy to understand posts, we are not all into high finance and these guys make it much more clear.
  5. Never thought much of Peat and while it was a hellish miss from three yards out, for someone in his position to come out and so what he did was unforgivable. It does not make me laugh though, it makes me want to cry.
  6. Danny what wanker changed the name on this thread was it you ? No.....he's a different wanker. So there is more than 1 ?
  7. Also the huddle on the park was phil brownesque in it's stupidity......we won a harder game with ten men the week before and walked off the park as though it was a normal game, they saw it as a massive achievment. What squad has the look of winners about them now....... Yes the huddle at the end was unbelievable, I was not sure whether to laugh or throw up. cringeworthy in the extreme what were they thinking After seeing the picture above from Papa, I think laugh and laugh very loudly is the appropriate gesture.

  9. Best of luck John, hope you come through this hellish illness.
  10. Well said, I agree with every word you say.
  11. I agree WVB, the stupidity of some on here over this past week is ridiculous, while I hope we can do this it is by no means certain and I think we should keep our powder dry until we know what both results are on Sunday. This has nothing to do with not being positive, it is being realistic and sensible.
  12. It is great to see Donald taking this on, but I think you are right 'Minstral' I fear people in high places will want to stop this case being won.
  13. I agree with the fact that Walter and Ally (two people I like) have to take some of the blame for the way we played in the first half because it has happened so many times this season, after Saturdays win it was just not good enough to play in such a pathetic way. I would have thought the players would have started the game as if their lives depended on it, certainly some of there futures at Rangers should be in doubt.
  14. :aaron:  Me thinks the DR might be close to some sort of administration, for them to actually print a story like this re-them at this time of the season..
  15. numan, whats the point of this list ? Pick points in aspects of his play maybe, but this is basically a character assassination. Are there no stones you have left unturned ? Maybe he's a serial killer on the side, a wife-beater or perhaps he's involved in drug and people trafficking ? Did you check him out ? I have seen and heard critisism aplenty of Rangers players, captains or not and never one so heavy-handed as this effort. Whatever his faults, he has given good service to the club and will be remembered in a positive light, not through blue-tinted specs but by bears who have seen and appreciated his input down the years. Thank God we had him. I see this as nothing less than kicking a man when he is down. Its not big and its not clever. Disappointing to see this written by a Bear. Great post Coops, this isn't even up for debate now ! Can't believe we are giving this treacherous shit the time of day ! I very rarely post now because I cannot be bothered with the negative posts about our players (especially Barry), but I also thought 'Coops' reply was spot on and deserves praise for it.
  16. He might be finshed, but Davis & Mendes are also finished if what I watched today is anything to go by.
