  1. With Rangers, both being there, they've won the same medals, as one always deputised for the other. Both for example won a league cup winners medal there in which Alexander played. Alexander has at least one medal with Cardiff but I think McGregor may have some with Gers before Alaxander joined....their medal tally is close. I'm not comparing the two as goalkeepers...tho I'm slightly less of the belief that McGregor is a god than most but I think he has a slight edge over Alexander. I was merely saying he's well worthy of praise...I and I suspect you know he's too good a keeper to not be a regular keeper. I'm sure Rangers do too...given how he's played. But what other international player would do that? The guy deserves our praise....and if he's ever number one, I'll be confident in him.
  2. He's not a bad looking guy but I probably fancy him less than you fancy Greegs. It was a serious thread, designed to acknowledge a player that's been great for us and be celebrated little...he wasn't some no-mark when he came to us. He's been part of some of our best recent experiences... I think he's the the true epitomy of a professional and a Ger....loved seeing him raise the cup. Hope he has many more seasons with us!
  3. I'm not knocking McGregor at all... I'm saying Alexander, given his career, has and is proving to be a guy worthy of serious praise and admiration.
  4. We're blessed to have a keeper of this quality at Rangers, seemingly happy to play second fiddle. When has he ever let us down? No arguments, no squabbles, even when he was he was an international keeper himself and let's face it...could be again if he wanted. He's class on and on off the pitch and I'm glad Gers recognise this with letting him play in cups...he's picked up a fair few medals now! Is he the best 'second' keeper we've had? IMO...I wouldn't cry if Greegs left and he was No.1 tomorrow...as long as we got a hefty transfer fee. Let's here it for this guy! He deserves some plaudits...cup final vs celtic? He was cool as a cucumber...then celebrated like a dervish....give him some love.
  5. On an aside, If Fleck had played the same as Diouff and done the same off the park...would some of us think differently? I only wish Fleck had played as well as the Diouff that's done 'fuck all' for some
  6. "We are too quiet, feck this dignified approach, I wanna see the passion...the players look like they've given up" "Far too cocky and confident...he's shooting his mouth off, ridiculous, it'll come back to bite us" Not direct quotes as such but a fair summation (I hope) of several strong views on RM.....some from the same peeps. So what exactly do we want? Our cake and to eat it perhaps?
  7. He's a player that will divide fans. He has a natural theatrical element to his game and personality that provoke strong opinions. I tend to believe he's a good player who's weaknesses are all too often exposed by our play i.e his lack of pace and a general tendency from us to play safe, frustrating him. He thrives on attacking football, players on his wavelength and we have few, to be brutally honest. Is he a waste of money? I don't think so...he can and will play a role as this season pans out and it's up to us to make the most of him. Should we keep him? I tend to think not though as long-term, he is no solution to our problems and we cannot try to build a team around him. What I will say though is that his signing has been worth it for fans response alone. Love him or hate him he's galvanised some areas of the Gers support and for once, given us a figure that truly rattles the tims in a manner beyond Novo. He's done more good than bad I think.
  8. All I would say on the matter is that if he wasn't a succesful, high-earning footballer, would he be so happy in declaring to the employment office that he was Irish, not British when it came to benefits? Anyhow, he's a good footballer...not great though, I'd say less good than McFadden at a similar age.
  9. He's a confirmed manic depressive is he not? Tough condition especially for a football manager. He'll be on strict medication but even that won't stop the worst. It's not a condition you 'get better' from...it's merely controlled to an extent by drugs. I don't envy him and he will always be the same.
  10. Exactly Singing, like the refs, aren't a problem when they are winning. Lose and we get the old, ridiculous and frankly boring stuff, trotted out. It will never change...a persecution complex will always surface after a set-back just as it will temporarily vanish after good things happen. And that's all it is - one huge persecution complex that will never go away.
  11. Sorry, in post final winning euphoria I'd be a hypocrite to re-evaluate missing players. McCulloch was rank in the early half of the season. An injury does not make him better but it does (on here) make the adage 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' true. I saw far too many woeful performances from him to now herald him as a some sort of lost warrior. Back to reality...he's good cover to have...maybe better than Edu. That's all. To think I was one of the few not ready to lynch him early season...
  12. I'd do exactly what Gers have done....label his decisions as 'dangerous' whilst also winning. The SM's have only whinged about refs after losing... We made our point as winners. Suits me.
  13. Emerenko should be SPL Player of the Year IMO. Jelavic is a fantastic player and I adore him. I really couldn't give a toss who wins tho.
  14. Check Mulgrew scratching his head after the 1st goal lol. (0.52) "Crap...er...I totally lost him..erm...nothing to do with me guv"
  15. Well...it's ok for me. So I'm with you. Jela is worthy of love. :jelavic:
  16. I'm no fan of Edu and I'm of the belief he really should have no future in a Gers team unless he completely reverses his recent diabolical form but today, he was decent...not great but he was by no means poor.
  17. Brilliant post Muff. You display your hurt more than most but it's balanced by your pride with posts like this that are outstanding..
  18. Great to hear it. Nothing wrong with it. It is not banned whatever some mischief makers make us believe. It is ours and it is beautiful...in full cry it really is a thing of stirring beauty. Long may we sing it.
  19. Having watched the replays....I'd say both were penalties following the strict, absolute letter of footballing law. However, if it were against Gers, I'd argue Jelavic exaggerated his...and hand balls in the box are always dubious. That said, I've seen a vid of Gough conceeding a penalty to Celtic for handball that had zero hand to ball movement and Wilson does move his hand toward the ball. Overall...meh...who cares? All that's clear was that he in no way favoured us...so I can fully enjoy tomorrow's papers.
  20. He was quite simply, excellent. Of all the Gers players that are often maligned, he's the one that you just know has it in him to be a great player. For today though, he was magnificent. Hope you're having a good night Steven!
  21. Today dispels the myth that they're this great team the Scottish media would have you believe. They're shocking in defence and all we needed was to actually have a go. We did and we won. We now know for sure we can beat them at their own game...attacking football. At times you could see in their faces that they were surprised at our play. Perhaps...just perhaps...Walter has learnt his lesson. But my god, how those players played for him today. Long may it continue.
  22. Brilliant vid! Thanks for posting! :jelavic:
