  1. Can't agree that we have nothing to gain. It is in our interests to have as much detail as possible on what happened, both with Whyte/Ticketus and HMRC. Our enemies still portray what happened to us as "self inflicted" and we need to see as much of the truth exposed as possible
  2. Good article. Despite being multi-million pound companies with high profiles football clubs are often remarkably amateurish in the way they are run. Let's face it, how many businesses would trust the most important aspect of their operation to people with no track record of success and minimal actual experience of the job?
  3. Be interesting to see this tested in court. If we are the same club, why were we kicked out of the SPL? That decision cost us millions and if it was wrong we should look for compensation
  4. Indeed - wildly overrated by many on here. Very rarely bossed a game and was frequently invisible. Not much pace even before the injuries and limited range of passing. Yes he "got stuck in" and the tackle on Keane was fantastic but his reputation appears to based just on that. Hate to say it, but his mate Brown is a much better player. That said, wish him the best and hope he gets a club (but not us)
  5. You may be right about the desire to impose a huge fine, but I can see a problem for them over that. Clearly any fine would be leveled against the oldco, so the only way they could collect would be to argue that we are the same team and are liable. If that is the case, why are we in the third division? Surely they would then be liable to us suing them for the millions we lost when players left after we were kicked out of the SPL? I have no doubt that we could "persuade" most of these players to give evidence that they only left because of the demotion.
  6. Sitting at a gig is worse than sitting at the football. After all the music is the actual point of the exercise so you need to be able to move. As you get older you do appreciate sitting at the game and I don't think I'd want to go back to standing myself but there's no doubt there's a demand for it and it would improve the atmosphere. A full single tier stand at one end (obviously the Copland) with the convertible type seats would be ideal, but not likely to happen so I'd go for converting the enclosure, as others have suggested.
  7. Also bear in mind that while an individual doesn't need to hire a lawyer to go to the small claims court, a company does. That £300 is very conservative indeed
  8. Or maybe he hasn't got much money. Not at all surprised at this report and I've always been very confident that any decision to strip titles could be overturned at CAS. In Spain it is common practice for top clubs to pay other teams' players bonuses to play well against their rivals at the end of the season. I can just imagine the people on CAS saying "Let us get this straight. You want to strip titles because they paid their players in a completely legal way and published it in their accounts?"
  9. I'm bound to get a lot of abuse for this, but while the sentence was disproportionate I can't accept the argument being made on this thread that shouting FTP while pissed out of your head at a football match is justifiable criticism of the Catholic Church in general or failure of the current pope to deal with paedophile priests adequately in particular. The fact that people like Steven Fry and Tim Minchin haven't been prosecuted is because there is freedom of speech in this country and they are presenting a reasoned point of view, not just shouting obscenities. Glad to hear that the sentence has been reduced, though, as a jail sentence was ridiculous.
  10. Official thread not important enough for OP, I suppose
  11. Not that surprising - lots of ppl on the forum are old enough to have seen McCoist and Hateley so Boyd and Miller won't get a mention
  12. Anyway - "early doors". What the fuck is that about?
  13. Actually, if we are given back the players who left without compensation, re-instated in the SPL and allowed to play in Europe, and the funds that appear to have gone missing are returned then, yes I think we should consider paying the tax the old company owed. Though it might be reasonable to knock a bit off in compensation for HMRC hounding us over the EBT case as it was their fault Whyte got the club anyway
  14. About a third of what Whittaker was getting, so seems reasonable to me
  15. Can't understand the logic that because we are playing in a league with a lot of cluggers, we should have more of our own - we're the ones 19 points clear. One of the toughest players about at the moment is Messi - takes the punishment then "dishes it out" by sticking the ball in the back of the net. That's the sort of hard man we should be aiming at
  16. The fact that so few top teams use 3-5-2 should tell you it isn't a good system. It either ends up 5 strung across the back and the midfield outnumbered so the ball keeps coming back, or the opposition starts dropping the ball into the space for wingers to run onto. Does anyone really think we'll use it when we are back in the top div or playing in Europe? No - so why bother with it now. 4-4-2, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 are our options and we should try to play one system throughout the club , Ajax style. I'd go for 4-2-3-1 personally as it is the most flexible. People complain about not playing two strikers, but the middle of the three should do that when you are in an attacking mode. There's a bit of an obsession with 4-4-2 on here, but unless the two CMs are extremely good they either get overrun, or the wide midfielders move in and you've got no width
  17. There's very little chance of a European league any time soon
  18. Well, speaking as a shareholder, I'd be in favour. The IPO valued us at 50M. If we made it to the EPL we could potentially be worth 10 times that. There is no possibility of that sort of valuation if we stay the the Scottish leagues
  19. With respect, that is utter nonsense. Before his injury Gascoigne was regarded as a world class player and was one of players of the 1990 World Cup. He is still the most naturally talented footballer I have seen in a Rangers shirt. Bo Anderson was decent but was a player who needed the ball played into space in front of him to be effective. He wasn't effective with his back to goal or in tight spaces. In those days virtually every team we played against domestically just packed their defence. That's why he didn't do much at Ibrox
  20. This isn't exactly news and as things stand, Scudamore is correct. Furthermore, he doesn't want to encourage the idea that either us or Celtic could be parachuted in as it would cause him endless problems However, if we started in the conference and worked our way up they would have years to get used to the idea. They would then find it hard to refuse us if we made it on sporting merit.
  21. You do if you are a full league member, but does anyone know what the rules are for an associate member?
  22. Apart from the socks - black and red please in future Agree about the shirt, though - love the big crest
  23. Boyd's hold up play was not decent, it was terrible. He had minimal upper body strength (not much time in the gym perhaps) and could be bullied off the ball so easily. Usually just fell over looking for a free kick. He isn't the sort of character to be good role model for young players and I personally haven't forgotten how he left. We don't need him and I'm surprised how many want him back
