  1. STUPID, STUPID ME!!! I should have had faith and belief in Walter, Sebo showed so much effort in unsettling their defence and loved when Pressley came off 2nd best when he put the head on headless chicken wonder.
  2. Supposedly a 4-5-1 formation so we are not looking for a win, shades of the boring unsuccessful Everton team from Walter! That will kill any passion from the game today.
  3. not like burke and boyd have been excellent anyway Burke does nothing against Celtic anyway but Sebo in for a goalscorer takes the biscuit.
  4. Guy who has not been good enough to be on the bench, apart from Thursday, starts against Celtic!! Are we concentating on Europe instead of trying to ensure 2nd place? I half expected stupid tactics and an ill thought out team for Europe from Walter and it did happen on Thursday BUT to start a dud like Sebo against Celtic I would not have believed! Struggled in the Austrian league, scoring less than Sionko for heavens sake, and has looked inept to say the least in scotland. In fact I have never seen him hit the target in the warm up. :scared:
  5. A lot of passion has gone out of the old firm derbies. I remember being nervous, excited etc for the week before the games and the feeling built up and up. Then the morning of the matches, the anticipation, the slight fear of defeat suddenly turning into optimism and belief, the drive to the match with the adrenalin kicking in and the walk to the stadium with the noise of nervous chatter, turning to noisly chants. Going into the stadium where time seems to stop and the kick off seems to be ages away, then the noise level starts and the hair on the back of the neck stands up, heart beat rate increases. What a feeling and the game passes by in a flash. For probably the last 5 years this hasn't happened for me and I feel the game has been sanitised so much it is like the Liverpool" friendly" derby where no one seems to be bothered about the result. Here I know we,the fans, are still bothered about the result but the games are so low key that the matches against Aberdeen seem to have more passion.
  6. The basic truth is that we are not technically good enough to play a slow passing game and are unable to keep possesssion, which is a must in European football. The quickest way to lose possession is for goalie and defenders to hump a high ball up the park. I was always amazed that under walters previous spell we played a fast passing game in the scottish game and the long ball in europe. We are not good enough to try to hold out for a nil- nil and hope to hit on the break, why we set up to do that at home baffles me. We must play a high tempo pressing game, the only way we look good, but with Barry out the only other player who could be bothered to play that way is Novo. On thursday so many of the team did not look up for it and some looked absolutely disinterested which made it so hard for defenders and the holding midfielders to try to pick out a pass. Burke spent periods of the game ensuring no one could give him the ball, "offside" Boyd I atually felt sorry for since he had no help in the first half and no options although a bit more effort might have helped. The team has to give more but the tactics and team selection have to be better.
  7. Great minds think alike brother :Animation44: Cannot disagree with any of this! A guy brought through as a winger and still cannot cross the ball suggests lack of application or else he just does,t care.
  8. Could not have put it better,MikeBlue, Svensson has difficulty heading the ball when warming up.
  9. Differs from my recollection and the stats.! OK how many goals did Ally score in the Champions League? Record scorer for Rangers in Europe, I remember him getting booked against CSKA when he broke the record.
  10. I will say it once again: Sebo was a laughing stock in Austria , 5 goals in his season there, 1 less than the prolific Sionko. If he cannot perform against teams like St Johnstone, Partizan etc why should anyone entertain the notion of him playing at Parkhead?
  11. I am afraid there is although it may be the same " fan", Briton!
  12. The same could probably have been said about Super Ally, who never produced in Europe. Differs from my recollection and the stats.!
  13. I would play Hemdani at central defence in Europe not in the spl and centainly not against someone like vennegor etc. Novo has to play beside Boyd or Prso and it is pointless to expect that Burke will do anything at Parkhead. Thats ok Weir can mark JVOH. Hemdani wont give away as much, play poor passes or put the team under pressure as much as Svensson or Ehiogu would. Any reasonable striker will go for a weakness and JVOH would attach himself to a defender who is suspect in the air like Svensson or Hemdani.
  14. Am I right in thinking that until round about 80 mins our only attempt on goal was boyd with his "cushioned " header to the keeper in the first half? It was only towards the end of the game that we actually started to look as if we wanted to get on target and the efforts in that short time maybe showed what we could have achieved if we had not started with a defensive line up.
  15. I would play Hemdani at central defence in Europe not in the spl and centainly not against someone like vennegor etc. Novo has to play beside Boyd or Prso and it is pointless to expect that Burke will do anything at Parkhead.
  16. Why will people not accept that Sebo is a dud- was a dud for Vienna and is an embarassment for us.!
  17. As much as I criticise Boyd for his lack of movement, effort, awareness of the offside rule, lack of linking ,inability to hold the ball, the bottom line is that is has always been obvious that he cannot play a lone striker role and should not be asked to do so ESPECIALLY AT HOME!!! We set up in a system that begged Ososuna to control the game and put us under pressure rather than the fast tempo ,pressing game that suits us. We are not technically good enough to play at a slow pace and why were we playing the ball in the air in these conditions? Poor tactics and the under achievers like Burke and Adam added to the incompetent Murray and with Thomson looking out of his depth made 1-1 a decent result, far better than the performance deserved. The difference Novo made was a testament to how wrong Walter got it tonight.
  18. I am fed up going on about Murray, his lack of pace, lack of fitness, inability to pass the ball. He is a liability at full back, and not good enough to make any position his own, at a push might be able to provide cover in midfield because if Rae can do that anyone can.
  19. I believe the bottle thrown by celtic fans was at a press bus so it is ok, and obviously was thrown in a friendly manner!
  20. God I thought that was cheap for a player like Vidic! Must get my ears checked!
  21. Unsure about Webster, think it will be a huge step up for Broadfoot, Svensson has no right to be at the level he is now as he does not have the attributes to be a central defender. On that tack watching Man Utd tonight and heard the commentary saying that Vidic cost £700,000, that is £100,000 les than Svensson.
  22. Whittaker is the weak link in Hibs defence not just on Sunday but in the previous game against us and the games against Celtic and Hearts where he let his side down badly. He is reasonable going forward but don't ask him to defend because he cannot. Hutton is a far better full back in every aspect.
  23. Strange how in the past 2 seasons thr poorest and least talented old firm teams for years got to the last 16 in the champions league. Funny competition this year with the worst AC Milan, Bayern and Real Madrid teams for decades. Watched highlights of real madrid game and was amazed how similar they are to our team under Le Quen, being torn apart with a straight ball between the central defenders time after time.
  24. Thought he was a very poor full back, always turned his back if opponent went to cross the ball, always ducked when a cross came in his direction. Will never forget the first time I saw him in a friendly against Leeds when Jason Wilcox- JASON WILCOX !!! turned him inside out time and time again. He had a good half season in midfield but that was it. I feel he is a converted winger more suited to play as a wing back rather than a full back, no great loss.
