  1. The thing is, that if we DID sell McGregor & not buy in another keeper, what do we do if Alexander's game goes pear shaped?
  2. We've got club legends that were worse if you're talking about his drinking etc.
  3. I couldn't care less if they have the top scorers as long as we have the SPL trophy! I knw, so do I...but its another thing to rub into them...us having the leading scorer in the country every season. It is a great GIRFUY having the top scorer. It's the type of thing that causes fights in my street. Then again, when we won the league there was fcuking running battles on my street all night.
  4. I doubt the club would accept a £4m offer for him now. It would need to be significantly higher & even then, I doubt that Boyd would agree on terms unless it was to a really big club & he was being asked to leave.
  5. Totally disagree. His current valuation could easily double to £7m+ if he does well in the Champions League. That is a triumph of hope over experience.... Stranger things have happened than Boydy scoring goals though! If he gets the CL game time, there's every chance he could score us a few.
  6. Totally disagree. His current valuation could easily double to £7m+ if he does well in the Champions League.
  7. The player & staff bonuses for that European run will only have been hiked so high when we got to the later stages (last 8 onwards) of the UEFA Cup run. There's also the fact that SDM went a bit loopy on giving out other freebies in that UEFA Cup run. It was all very generous, but I don't think we'll be seeing the same level of bonuses & handouts this time, as the club's financial situation is very different. I totally agree about being realistic, but that goes for the club as well, so I really do think we could see a big difference in our debt in the not so distant future. At least I hope we do, since we're up shit creek if we don't.
  8. Frankie, you're absolutely correct. The figures aren't set in stone, as what we make will indeed depend on whether Celtic qualify or not, but assuming they don't (fingers crossed), then we're looking at something like this:- Champions League cash - £6m TV cash if Celtic don't qualify - £5m+ Ticket sales - £4m+ Win/draw bonuses - £1.5m+/- Total should be - £17m+ Making it to the last 16 stage would bump that total up to £21m+ There's obviously going to be associated costs & some player bonuses coming off that as well, but I can't see why our debt can't be severely slashed.
  9. Something worth considering though, is that if we don't spend any more on players than we bring in for players this year, our debt can probably be cut by at least 60-70% by the Champions League income which I read should be somewhere in the region of £20m for just the group stage games & more with an extended run. I can see us spending on a player or 2 though, but even then, we could still be looking at our debt being cut in half over the next year. £15m debt for a club the size of ours is actually peanuts these days, so I doubt the debt will be a major issue unless the bank decide to f*ck us over.
  10. I find it amazingly hypocritical that so many Bears say or act as if they feel so strongly about being Protestant while not actually practicing what they say they do. I'm a Protestant as far as my parents & upbringing are concerned, but since my early teens I'm not a practicing one. Like many other people, I don't believe in any religion or believe in God, so how can I call myself something that I don't believe in?? If I came on here banging on about being a proud Protestant, while not practicing the religion or even believing in God, that would make me a complete hypocrite would it not? Something that's interesting sociologically within the Old Firm is that both sides have a righteous pride in their club's heritage with a very strong emphasis on religion & the role of religion in the clubs' relative histories', but to my mind a lot of the support on both sides are completely false, both in terms of their supposed religious beliefs & also in terms of their affiliations with matters pertaining to Ireland. It might be a controversial thing to say, but I think there's actually what we call 'plastic paddies' on both sides. Now, before anyone here thinks that I'm Bear bashing here or something, I need to say that I personally think the brainwashed 40 shade of green hypocrites are the worst. They act like they value their religion & supposed Irish connections as much if not more than their football club, which possibly would be fair play if it had any sort of tangible grounding, but it doesn't! It's probably 90% utterly false, since around that percentage don't even practice their supposed faith, their religion, other than in what someone else in this thread called a 'pic'n'mix fashion. "Oh aye, I'll have a bit of this & a bit of that, just whatever suits me really" GTF!!! You can't call yourself something that you're not, you f*ckin' brainwashed pikey tool. It would be sick, but entertaining comedy to see a televised speed dating night in Glasgow where the questions were based purely on getting to the bottom of the contestants religious beliefs & in what way they practiced them. I'd bet money on the fact that almost every single contestant would embarrass themselves & whatever religion they claimed to have faith in.
  11. what exactly is it about the Orange Order that you find so offensive, have you came out of your way to be offended. I have personally met the author of this article on various occasions and I can relate to the article and I have no problem with it, what exactly is your problem with it ? Where have I said I find it offensive? What is offensive about "not giving a fuck about it"? This is the problem, the debate degenerates into myths and lies to fit folks agenda's. That's my feeling here as well. If I don't give a toss about the OO & if I say here openly that it f*cks me off if they wake me up in the morning banging their drums, there's people here that will (or would) say I'm not a 'real' Bear because my opinion doesn't fit into their personal view of the world, what does that actually mean? Well, the bottom line is that it means I'm probably one of many Bears that aren't welcome here by some people (ask me if I care) & those same people would rather that I was someone with the same beliefs & ultimately, mentality as them. Sad, but true & this is exactly the type of mindset that's being propagated all around the world within all sorts of religions from Zionists to Muslims to Evangelicals; 'if you're not with us, you're against us' - G.W. Bush
  12. I hope he gets let loose in the Champions League & scores us some important goals. Then he can say to himself in his supposed 'egotistical fashion', GIFRUY !!!
  13. I'd say yes it does, at least to some Bears (even if they are in the minority). You could have family & a girlfriend associated with practically any other religion, but any association with Catholicism is a no go for some. I know it myself, because if I took a Catholic girl round to my parents for dinner they'd definitely 'have a word' with me about it afterwords, even if it was just a word of warning.
  14. Not saying he's the same class of player, but Adam has much better career stats than Steven Davis even although he's almost a year younger than Davis. 500k isn't enough to get for him.
  15. I think he'll still be here too BD, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
  16. The creation of or instigation of hostile divisions between our fans by any particular group of the support is almost unforgivable imo, but I find myself constantly having to forgive a section or sections of our support for actively seeking to divide the fans over the fact that we don't all hold the same beliefs and values or live our lives with carbon copy mindsets. The very idea that any RFC supporters group would publicly say (whether directly or otherwise) that they'd rather have a small crowd of like minded Orangemen at Ibrox who all held the same beliefs & values than have Ibrox filled with Rangers fans from all walks of life, isn't actually very surprising at all and definitely highlights the fact that bigotry is still going strong in our society. It can't be argued when sections/groups of our own support are displaying their distaste & even hatred towards other Bears instead of those outside our club who seek to see it crumbling. The song bans are a disgrace & a farce. They make a mockery of our club, of Scottish Football & even make a mockery of the political & legal systems in Scotland. There has to be something we can do about it, something more worthwhile than whining, arguing, pointing fingers and name-calling one another? The cause of the squabbling is that some of us feel strongly about wanting to continue singing the banned songs, while some of us are against singing them primarily because of the risk of the club being fined, docked points or any of the possible punishments. Both are totally fair points, but where we're losing the plot completely is when the argument goes further and deeper as it has throughout this thread. If there really are any of the unwashed around here, they'll be pissing themselves laughing at the divisions being created amongst our support because of these songs being banned. Can we not all just respect one another enough to actively do something about the problem other than bickering about it? Can we do something about the problem in an organized, systematic & private manner that's undetectable on timmy's radar? Please?
  17. The dirty bassas should have had 2 or 3 sent off that day!!
  18. Impossible to say. If you'd be pissed at having got Boyd on the new top if he leaves this summer, then why risk it?
  19. I don't agree that the whole team is set out to protect Davie's weaknesses, that doesn't make any sense at all, but his distribution is shocking, so that's not something we can depend on him for. If we can afford a good quality partner for Madjid, I'd probably let Weir play only Scottish & League Cup matches as well as being back up/cover on the bench in the SPL & in Europe. Somehow I can't see that happening though. I can see him being expected to play a crazy number of games for us if we don't sign anyone else.
  20. Rangers Football Club is always changing, but since we're talking about the fans & support here, then yes it's changing in that sense too (not trying to start something here with the separation of Club & support, but that's the way it is). The consciousness of the fans & support has been changing for quite a number of years & I honestly don't think it's the fault of a 'PC brigade' or even SDM as some here on this thread are implying. Despite their foul attempts, I don't even believe that the mhedia can be blamed to any great extent either (although I definitely think there is a green campaign & not the type that involves windmills). Personally, I think that what we're talking about here is a combination of important factors & those are (in no real order):- - 1) Our new generations form their own (don't laugh) beliefs on all the matters involved in this type of subject or discussion. - 2) Over the years, we as individuals have formed our own (again, don't laugh) beliefs on all the matters involved in this type of subject or discussion) - 3) Religions are falling apart. Despite their followers, they're surely being exposed as the sham that they are, as institutions organized by people who wanted to control other people. - 3) The internet is the new religion. Even masses of people in 'radical' Islam are moving away from their roots in disgust at their lives and radical society at large & moving into a new age. It's the modernization of society & it's not an accident, it's the religion of our time. What's it's name? I don't know. Communication? - 4) Despite many things pointing to the contrary (we don't need to go into it here), the vast majority of people still believe they are 'FREE' & that they have the right to ALL of the things attributed to 'freedom'. They are wrong. Our rights are governed & whether anyone here happened to notice or not, rights are being taken AWAY from us, not given TO us. Our new age communication? - monitored at levels that human communication has never been monitored before.
