  1. He's staying. Just a prediction, but if I was a betting man I'd probably put money on it.
  2. TBH Muff can't say he impressed me that much going on today performance, obliviously he's just started his pre season and time will tell. But i don't think he's anything to worry about. You beat me to it db.
  3. I haven't seen that much of him, but he didn't look to be any better than what we've got on offer in midfield. Certainly not gonna be running a riot imo. I don't think they're any better than they were last season with their new additions.
  4. Last I checked they were only 7 points behind the league leaders, but that was Friday night. Did they play at the weekend?
  5. I wonder if Campbell would be worth a shout for the 1st 45 in a cup match that made our schedule tight?
  6. There's more chance of me marrying Kate Beckinsale in Vegas than Naismith signing for Ra Sellick.
  7. It'll take more than half a dozen starts in a season for Velicka to come anywhere near approaching 'amazing'. He's a good player & he did score us some vital goals, but we'd need to see him getting more regular appearances to be able to judge him properly. From what we seen, all we can safely say is that he's capable of everything from great goal scoring to being the worst player on the park.
  8. Archie Campbell is going to have the hardest job of getting 1st team action out of these lads. We've got Boyd, Miller, Novo, Lafferty, Naismith & Velicka that all stand in the lad's way of getting 1st team striking action. With any luck, he might get a 15-20 minute run out if we're 4-0 up in a cup tie, but he'd need to be on the bench for even that to happen.
  9. Not too concerned about Edu right now, since he's not had as many bad injuries in his career to date AFAIK, but when he comes back I hope he's not rushed. Much more concerned about Thomson tbh. He's not someone we want to be getting injured at all, given that he's had several bad ones in his career. So far he's come back from them with flying colours, but that'll come to an end if he keeps getting injured badly. Fingers crossed that he stays injury free is all I can say. FWIW, this is exactly why I think Adam will still be here come Sept' 1st. Better midfield option than McCulloch & when he's on form & given the chance, can score more goals from midfield than the much debated 'striker' Miller.
  10. The key word is 'spin'. This is a blatant attempt by the green spin doctors to alter the perceptions of the people who will decide on the matter. We'll see this sort of shit all over the press up until his supposed 'hearing'. If he gets away with this, there's absolutely no justice in Scottish football. I've watched the footage several times in slow mo & there's no way of getting out of what he did unless there's some prejudice & a lot of spinning involved. If we're supposed to be clamping down on dirty footballers, this dirty wannabe should be banned for at least a year.
  11. Despite what any of us think of Adam, we don't have enough facts about these transfer dealings.
  12. Did you notice that the headlines didn't actually match what McCloy had said??? I noticed at least the Record & Scotsman both doing the same thing.
  13. Adam isn't overweight for his height & build. He's 6 1" with a big build, which is a handy attribute to have against some teams that have monsters playing for them, the type of teams that you'd fear for the life of someone like Beasley. Players like Gazza, Coisty, McCall & Goram at their peak for Rangers probably all had much more body fat than Adam. If I'm wrong fair enough, but if that's the case then why are people calling Adam fat? We say players like Burke & Beasley are too lightweight for the SPL, but a big strong guy like Adam is too fat & gets dogs abuse for being a pie munching Burger King dweller?? Load of bollocks. All the abuse Adam gets for supposedly being a fat bastard is well out of order imo. Folk seem to think it's funny, but I've come to the conclusion that it's just shallow & ill informed.
  14. Players need a good run of 1st team starts to build consistency though & that's something Adam hasn't had for quite a while.
  15. There's a lot of things that tell me we shouldn't have been selling Adam for 500k & that's why I said Holloway knows he's getting a bargain for that money. Adam's career stats on FF are down as 31 goals in 130 appearances (not incl' subs) since April 2004. By all accounts, that's quite impressive for a 23 year old midfielder. There's 'highly thought of' 23 year old strikers with a poorer strike rate. 18 of his 31 goals have been for Rangers in 74 appearances. Not sure if they're counted in the FF stats or not, but Adam scored his 1st goal for us in our UEFA cup win over Livorno, scored against both of the Israeli sides we played in that campaign & in our 07/08 run in Europe he scored home & away for us in the Champions League against Stuttgart. Going back to the 06/07 season which we all know was a great season for Adam, he also scored in an Old Firm match from a free-kick. Not to be forgotten, are his 9 goals in 30 starts for St.Mirren which helped them to promotion. Oh, I almost forgot that Adam has 2 full international caps & 3 for the B squad. If this is a player we should be selling with 3 years left on his contract for a mere £500k, I think I've lost my marbles.
  16. My god..... :anguish: :anguish: :anguish: :anguish: I stand by that opinion Calum, just like I stand by my opinion that Brum just got a bargain buying Fergie for a little over £1m. We're undervaluing our players & willing to sell them off cheap because of our financial situation & desire to trim the wage bill. The problem is, that because our club have made these things publicly known, they've essentially kicked the arse out of the value of any players we were willing to sell. The result is that the 'right price' is now much lower than it should be. Fergie should have been a £2m+ transfer & Adam should have been more like a £750k-£1m transfer IMO.
  17. What facts do we have regarding the acceptance of the 500k bid? Who accepted it exactly? Does anyone here that's bad mouthing Charlie Adam know for sure that Walter Smith accepted the bid? Is there a chance that Martin Bain accepted the bid without speaking to Walter Smith about it? It seems to me that there's several different possible scenarios that could lead to this sort of delay & as I said in a post earlier in the thread, Adam was publicly saying after the bid was accepted that he wanted to fight for his place in the Rangers squad & this fact was publicly accepted by Blackpool. Holloway then starts getting impatient about it, because he knows he was getting a bargain in Adam for 500k. If he could easily find another player of Adam's age, ability & experience for 500k, he'd already have retracted the offer & bought in the alternative, but instead of doing that he's allowed it to drag out & FWIW we don't have any solid facts regarding Blackpool trying to contact Adam's agent or Rangers on the matter of concluding the deal. As per usual, we're going on the rumour mill & escalating the problem ourselves by making out that it's all Adam's fault & that he's a disgrace, when in actual fact, none of us know for sure that that is the case AFAIK.
  18. What's disgraceful about it? Adam was honest about wanting to stay with us & fight for a place in the team after the club accepted the 500k offer. I'll tell you what I think is disgraceful.... Holloway starting getting publicly ratty about it in the press as the Ferguson deal grew in momentum... The club can't retract their acceptance of the Blackpool offer, but what they CAN DO is whisper in Charlie's ear to hold off on getting back to Holloway just to piss him off as a wee lesson for starting mouthing off to the press last week about his frustration with Adam. IMO Adam will be staying at Rangers & I'm glad about that. It's only 500k we're talking about & if the wage bill still needs reduced I'd rather see us punting Lee McCulloch which would reduce the wage bill much more significantly then letting Adam go. Adam (imo) is a better player than LM to have on our bench in the coming season, as we may well need to call on him if we play 4-5-1 in any of the CL games, at least while Edu is still out & Thomson just returning again.
  19. Voted yes, but realistically I'd be delighted with us only signing a good CB.
  20. Disney is huge and whenever anyone says Disney they automatically think of Magic Kingdom etc... but they have a lot more than that. Disney's Wide World of Sports has a partnership with Chelsea and as you enter the place has flags, banners up with the Chelsea badge and pictures of Lampard and Terry. They have a shop specifically selling Chelsea tops and another shop that sells strips from around the world. (Had a look in there and they didn't sell Celtic tops, which is a surprise since they seem to be everywhere.) So do you see us getting a similar independent deal to the Chelsea one you mention? I really can't see it happening, but if it does, then great!! In the meantime I won't hold my breath.
