  1. You should have put Healy in bold. I don't know what his natural position is but it's sure as fuck not as a striker.
  2. What's the story with Bendiksen? I remember it being reported that he was some kind of Norweigan superstar in the making when we signed him as a teenager 3 or 4 years ago but he never seems to be mentioned now even when we've got some serious issues in central midfield.
  3. Meeting about 60% of our operating expenses.
  4. Smith, Stuart Munro was LB under Souness most of the time (apart from Jan Bartram for about a month).
  5. Someone else mentioned the 5th above, Davie Dodds. I'll think of a harder quiz next time!
  6. Is it true that Catriona Shearer (the BBC morning Scottish newsreader) is the granddaughter of Bobby Captain Cutlass Shearer ? Someone told me this tonight but not sure if it's true.
  7. Obviously too easy! 4 of the 5. Well done sir.
  8. Apologies if this has been posted before... Graeme Souness only signed 5 players who had a Scotland cap. Can you name them?
  9. It's just a ploy to break into the arabic market....
  10. Test: Corinthians of Parkhead are knobjockeys
  11. I don't know about McKay and Bedoya so I'll keep them out of the equation for now. Given our current squad I'd go for a 4-5-1. I'd have Goian and Bocanegra as CB's McMillan or Perry as RB and Wallace/Papac as LB Midfield would be Bartley as holding CM, Davis and Ness in front of him in the middle. Naismith on the right and Wylde on the left. Jelavic up front. Game plan would be use the pace and skill of the wide players but expect Naismith to cut in. Of the two advanced central midfielders Davis would have license to push forward more. I'd have Lafferty on the bench as an impact sub. Play as much as possible through the middle with out balls especially to the left wing. When Wylde is on a run Davis and Naismith to push up and in to support Jelavic. McCulloch, Ortiz, Edu, Broadfoot and Whittaker would be cover for injuries only.
  12. Some of his family in Cumnock still will not talk to him because he signed for them
  13. FFS I'd be better than Ortiz and I'm 43, 2 stones overweight with a fucked knee.
  14. I think the pertinent measure is how long will Craig Whyte give him. I'm absolutely positive that the business plan for this season included some kind of European involvement in the group stages of either competition. Whatever we may think or suspect about Whyte, one thing is sure - that he is first and foremost a hard-nosed businessman. These sort of guys don't tolerate failure especially repeated failure. IMHO - if Ally doesn't get the results in the league which means beating the sheep, DU and the scum in the next three games then I don't think he'll last until October never mind January. And yes I know we're top of the league but can anyone honestly say that we've performed well in the 4 games so far?
  15. We've got the Sheep, Dundee Utd and the tims in the next three games. If we don't take maximum points from these I think McCoist will get the bullet.
  16. I actually think that Goian, Bocanegra and Wallace are pretty decent buys and easily good enough for the SPL. Wallace in particular could become a very good player. The problem is that there seems to be no organisation within the defence. When something bad happens they are left standing looking at each other as if to say "who was meant to pick him up?" This is something that didn't happen under Walter, when he came back after PLG the first thing he did was tighten up the defence and that was the rock that he built the next 3 seasons on. The defence is not being coached properly. That's the managers fault.
  17. Do you really expect me to google news articles that will show quotes saying as much? if so don't hold your breath. A club is measured by it's fan base, it's history, it's stadium and infrastructure etc. Apart from a CL win Arsenal ticks all those boxes at least as much as say Chelsea do but partisans in the English media probably will not recognise it for their own reasons. A team is measured by results on the park and the value of it's players.
  18. In the same way that Newcastle or Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday are referred to as a massive club. You can be a massive club but have a shite team.
  19. My first choice would be Weir if I thought he was going to be playing most games this season but unfortunately I don't Davis is too introverted/quiet I don't like keepers as Captains. They should boss their own penalty box but they are out of touch for the rest of the pitch. McCulloch - don't be silly. He's been a decent servant for the club but he's past it and the sooner McCoist realises it the better. Which leaves "Other". Of the Others who has the maturity/seniority and will play every/most weeks. Seems to me it's a choice between Edu, Bartley, Whittaker, Wallace, Jelavic and the two new centre halves. I don't like strikers as captains for the same reason as keepers. Bartley is a loan signing and we need some continuity also I can't see Whittaker or Edu stepping up to the mark so my suggestion would be Bocanegra or Goia with Bocanegra edging it because of his experience as USA captain.
  20. Don't be deluded. Apart from the Hearts tie where they were justifiably outclassed, every team in Scotland has fucked up this season against teams from so-called lesser leagues such as Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Slovenia. We're no-where near as good as we think and can only dream of being as good as the Danish and Belgians etc.
  21. Agree 100%. Despite the players we haven't managed to sign we have enough of a squad that we should have expected to win every game we've played so far including both legs v Malmo. The fact that a lot of people don't want to accept is that McCoist has done very little right since being appointed manager and to compound things he seems incapable of learning from his mistakes. Repeatedly playing Edu/McCulloch in the middle and repeatedly playing Ortiz on the left and the lack of substitutions/tactical changes in-game and not playing Wylde/Ness/Hutton/Perry and the lack of disciplne and lack of defensive discipline/organisation and the lack of any attacking tactics other than hoof it to Jela all point to one thing....A manager who doesn't have a fucking clue. McCoist is and always will be a legend as a player - but then again so was John Greig.
  22. They don't need to "like" him they need to fear and respect him. I don't believe Walter or Sir Alex or Jose gives a fuck whether or not their players like them.
  23. Some of us are old enough to remember John Greig as manager. He was more of a Rangers legend that Ally but was very poor as a manger. There were people who refused to criticise him at the time because of his legendary status as a player.
