  1. On the game itself, was a slog against a team who made the pitch really narrow, relied on being able to slow the game down due to the pitch and who pounced on the inevitable short, bobbly or bad bounce balls played in the middle of the park. And because we were trying to play the full backs high they played in the spaces behind that after a turnover. I didn't think it was a coincidence that in the first 15 mins, before the pitch cut up so badly, we moved it quickly and looked like we were going to maul them. As soon as the bounces became so bad we had to take extra touches and it played into their hands and they turned it into what it became. It allowed them to push up high on Morelos and we didn't have anyone making that run in behind. We are definitely really vulnerable when we play our full backs so high - but only when we give away cheap possession, which became kind of inevitable yesterday. There was some unbelievably bad decision making in the 2nd half of extra time that invited pressure. Wright, for all the good he did when he came on, nearly undid it all a few times towards the end. However, that's as positive an impact he's made on a game for a long time. He was clearly given instruction to come on and run in behind, something nobody else was doing.
  2. It's so tempting to pretend I don't understand and post a question about why we haven't spent the Bassey money yet but I feel like it'd make you scream at your phone
  3. I said from the start that Beale was the man for the job. In no way at all did I advocate Dyche over Beale. Not at all Good progress so far from me - I can listen to press conferences again and actually look forward to hearing from him, which is a far cry from having never once listened to an entire GVB interview. On the park, signs are good in that whilst we still seeing periods of dross, we are seeing active management interventions that are making a difference on the field. Which, again, is a huge departure from GVB.
  4. Anyone posted post match interview from Beale yet? Can't find it on YouTube either
  5. Davis, sadly, I'm writing off as retired. Arfield I'm assuming will go into coaching side at some point and will be welcome until that point. Goalie - yeah, missed that 1, we need a new number 1.
  6. They fall into a few categories for me, as the changes have to be incremental and can't all be in January/summer: MUST GO: Helander Sands Wright Roofe McGregor McLaughlin CAN STAY IF WE ADD QUALITY & COMPETITION FOR PLACES ALONGSIDE THEM - LIST BELOW WOULD BECOME OUR SQUAD PLAYERS: Jack Kamara Sakala Matondo (on basis there's some kind of player there and shows some evidence of it in next few months - if not, MUST GO) Hagi (only because we've given him a contract, not because I like him - if we are offered anything north of £5m for him, sell sell sell) SHOULD STAY: Lundstram Morelos Colak Kent Tav Borna Yilmaz (until we figure out what's going on with him but if not settled, sell and get some money back) Lawrence Tillman (if we can afford) Devine (future player) Goldson Davies Lowry NEED: Pace and power in middle of park Powerful centre half or 2 (we should have 4 CH's) Natural right sided attacker - Candeias is still the best we've had there in last 10 years
  7. I was very surprised Tillman didn't fake him, because he does that fake all the time, and people buy it all the time. Keeper was already on his way as well so it would have put him off balance and been a simple roll into the far corner. It was a big moment that would've finished the game. As for the OP and topic, Beale is at least trying to get something out of the players mentioned and although the quality will never be there, you can see it having some positive impact on Fashion. At least we don't have a situation like Hibs do and their manager continually telling his players they are shite in the press after games and he needs better players
  8. Fully expect game to be off after Frank McGarvey's sad passing. Can't see how they'll be fit to play after Phil O'Donnell tragic precedent.
  9. Absolutely. A feature of our play at that time was Jack dropping back right, and Kamara back left, to allow them to have higher starting positions and attacking. We need them higher up the park with the forwards more inverted and the midfield 3 doing a covering job if they are caught up the park and we lose possession.
  10. Agreed 100%. Taylor just ran past him the entire 90 mins in the first OF. He just didn't have the legs or the will to cover that off.
  11. We aren't ready for celtic. Let's face it, a snow storm and a month delay would not be worst outcome right now. Don't give me No Surrender pish either, simple facts are we need time, players and more time to work shit out. That said, we NEVER do what we did tonight. So fuck them all.
  12. 1. Fuck the sheep shagging cunts. 2. Both their goals followed on from fouls on our players. 3. We were poor. 4. Fuck the sheep shagging cunts.
  13. It's like a new signing! I certainly hope it is anyway, because so far he's lived off his name, not his game.
  14. Forwards more inverted and rotating. Full backs on last line and wider than the front 3. With space because defence had to come in or forward to pick up the 3. More players around box with SECURE possession Only worked 2nd half as press was better and we retained possession better. Platform from there. Kamara, 2nd half especially, linked that triangle beautifully Negatives.....no dominance at the back. That's easily resolved tho.
  15. Immediately saw huge differences in what we were trying to do. We did it poorly 1st half but still saw it 2nd half we were absolutely on it and movement was fantastic. Kamara was outstanding.
  16. Lost the first game 6-2 and won return 5-1. So we won on away goals rule
  17. Post it in the Beale chat and I'll answer. This is a post about Gio, the Board and SG.
  18. I think he's probably happy to debate where the football club is now and how we go forward. I think it's more that he's annoyed at having to deal with someone who is coming across as a sanctimonious twat.
  19. At least nobody has posted about Sean Dyche in a while. He'd have been a good manager I think.
  20. I was being a knob to be fair - just that I'm a bit dejected looking through that list as it reminds me how bad the squad has gotten. Hoping Beale gets a better tune out of them than anyone else has and we add some real quality
