  1. I'd say that's another shit comparison tbh. Aye he developed late, but he still left non league football at 21. By Vardy's age Wright had already played 4 full seasons in the old second division (Championship Level). Same with Drogba. At 25 he'd played 3 seasons at Ligue 2 level, 2 in Ligue 1 and was a couple of months off a £24M move to Chelsea ffs.
  2. Don't understand why people are using Smalling as an example of why this might work. Smalling joined Fulham in Jan 2008, having just turned 18. Whereas this guy has just turned 25 (today's his birthday) and his whole career consists of less than 5 months of Conference football. It's not that people are completely writing the guy off as such, but a fee of £1M, regardless of his scoring record this season, is fucking mental for someone with less than 5 months of professional football under his belt.
  3. As albluenose1990 said, I don't think they are. The likes of Cha, Majstorovic, Izzaguirre, Mulgrew, Kayal, Hooper and Stokes were probably on pennies at their previous clubs so won't be on a great deal. The only ones they brought in last year that would be on big wages would be Ledley and maybe Commons.
  4. Same here, if we'd got the majority of Ally's top targets, assuming Whyte has the dosh he says he does, then we'd have a team capable of walking this league. Need to get the finger oot and fast.
  5. From what I've read from people who watch the BPL he's well worth it. Almost everyone thinks 4.5M euros would be a bargain tbh.
  6. I'd take it as long as the money was reinvested. Jelavic, Naismith and a new £4M striker would be perfect. With Hemmings and Healy as back up.
  7. If I was looking at players like Whittaker taking home £20k+ a week and had the ability of Wylde I'd sure as hell want a lot more than £1.5k a week as well.
  8. Would help if you read what I wrote. I said we hadn't met the valuation Aderlecht placed on him over a week ago. We haven't, simple as that. I know we have met the valuation that Anderlecht and Juhasz agreed last summer but those two valuations are entirely different and Anderlecht are under no obligation to sell for the price they valued him at last summer, regardless of what was said between them and the player. They haven't went back on their word with us, they have went back on their word with the player though.
  9. Twice as much? Over a week ago they said they wanted over 4.5M euros for him, they might have changed the valuation they agreed with Juhasz last summer but since we have been interested the value has always been around 4.5M euros, and we've offered around 3.5M euros. So no, we haven't offered what they originally asked for. Let alone twice as much.
  10. Can't we just switch the names on his and Whittakers contract.
  11. Why would they? It's pretty fucking obvious they, or any other club for that matter, would not accept a £2M offer when they've got a £2.8M offer on the table, regardless of what their asking price was.
  12. They weren't playing 'silly buggers with us'. They said all along they wanted £2M. Had we put the £1.6M plus 600k offer in when it was only us and Blackpool involved it would probably have been accepted, depending on what the add-ons involved. But obviously if a team then comes in and offers more than they originally wanted that is the new price, and they're sure as hell not going to accept another offer unless it's matched or bettered again. Only an idiot would believe otherwise. Now if we had offered the £2M before Blackburn offers and then DU suddenly go back on their word then we have something to complain about. But in this instance we have no one but ourselves to blame.
  13. Why would there be? Most, if not all, clubs wait until the deals complete before announcing it on their official site. Offering £2.8M seems off when DU only wanted £2M but considering this is the same chairman who thought he could convince Ronaldinho to leave Milan for the mighty Rovers I'm not really surprised.
  14. Papac for me. Has been great over the past 2 or 3 years and doesn't deserve to be dropped.
  15. Reckon we will do it. We were awful the other night and still missed a few sitters. Good chance Malmo will bottle it too.
  16. Centre mid isn't the worst idea in the world. Like McLachlin1 said, I'm not keen on wingers with no pace. And if it dislodged Edu and Lee then all the better.
  17. Any link to Forest being allowed to speak to him? As far I was concerned they said their bid was 'unnacceptable'. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=nl&u=http://transferzone.nl/2011/07/rangers-gaan-bieden-op-wesley-verhoek/&ei=-yMwToqSK4iwhAfH8PxD&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CEQQ7gEwAw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dwesley%2Bverhoek%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DEH6%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D606%26tbs%3Dqdr:d%26prmd%3Divnso http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dwesley%2Bverhoek%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DEH6%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D606%26tbs%3Dqdr:d%26prmd%3Divnso&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&sl=nl&u=http://www.voetbal4u.com/2011/07/27/glasgow-rangers-biedt-een-miljoen-op-wesley-verhoek/&usg=ALkJrhjHh9bpEWM1ItIvpuKI-X9yCNpscw So if your right and Forest offered £1.6M what are the chances of them taking £1M seriously.
  18. Exactly. And even if it didn't work out I'd fancy our chances of getting our money back at the very least from some Championship mob.
  19. WS wouldn't bid £1M for a £3-5M player though. I think it's more a case of the selling club believing that CW is trying to take the piss out of them, hence why they've not even bothered to reply.
  20. If we start the game the waywe played 2nd half vs Hearts then I'd fancy us to go through in normal time as we're more than capable of knocking a few past them. If we haven't scored by around the 60 min mark though I suspect we'll be all over the place and they'll hit us on the break and kill the tie.
  21. McGregor without doubt. Other than that Jelavic, Davis and Wallace did ok and I suppose Naismith got in the right positions even if his finishing was shite. The rest were really poor though.
  22. Offering Little and Healy new contracts was just a bizarre decision for me. We already have three far better players in Jelavic, Naismith and Lafferty. Add to that we're actively looking for another stiker and probably stuck with Beattie for another year until his contract runs out, what the hells the point in extending Healy and Little's contracts if they're likely to be 6th and 7th choice. Can understand someone like McMillen being kept on as we're short defensively but those two just strike my as pointless.
