  1. Why is this even news? I would get it if it was Cuellar or some player that's not necesarilly expected to leave but Dundee United are looking to sell him so what does a transfer request change? Nothing.
  2. I know, there's a logic to the move, but people keep saying he turned us down for money which is just wrong.
  3. How many times does it need to be said that Hemed went to Spain for less money than we offered?
  4. Can't understand how people can say it wouldn't work with such confidence. Plenty of pairings look great on paper and then end up being crap and the opposite is true. There's every chance Boyd and Jelavic would be a fantastic pairing. Miller and Boyd worked alright and Jela is better than Miller in every area other than his pace which i'm not convinced is the key to Boyd's goals.
  5. Possibly, but surely we should go after the top targets first? Every day we wait is another day that another team can bid for them. Buy our best targets first and then use what we have left to get the lesser players makes far more sense or we'll end up missing main targets by being too busy chasing the squad players.
  6. Couldn't agree more, followed Zairi's career for a few years now after someone posted a vid on the old bbc 606 and i'd love it if the gers signed him. Someone must be able to drop his name to mccoist, a free transfer aswell.
  7. Hasn't Cuellar played about 100 games for them?
  8. Presumably given how they value our players then 100k would be a fair price? Or does it not work like that. Can't see Miller dropping his wages enough to come back, our top offer would probably be about 40% what he is on just now, and he'd get taxed harder here too.
  9. Such a fair price that no other team is willing to pay yet either.
  10. Women have been in tennis for years though, as a sport women's tennis and men's tennis are around the same level, in any event i've heard plenty of people make the comparison and ask how the Williams sisters would compete against the men (The answer is generally that they'd be at the top with Nadal and Federer.) Women's football is a minor game and of coure there will be a comparison made, it's the same game, in the very same way people compare the SPL with the Premiership and say the SPL is shite, the same is done for the women's game. So there aren't various male athletes that have made money from ad campaigns based on their looks? All of Beckham's deals are to do with his football and not his appeal to women? Ginola was in shampoo adverts because he was a good goal scorer?
  11. In fairness our hands have been tied a bit the last few years in that we've been reducing our wage bill because of pressure from the bank. Players want improved contracts and we've simply not had the money to do that.
  12. It's a document lodged with the court of session that anyone would be entitled to view. Back in the day there used to be large boards that you could walk in off the street and peruse (If you had nothing better to do) but probably these days you have to go and ask someone.
  13. Ah, thought I remembered there being something about the ages being different but was on my phone and couldn't be bothered typing an elaborate post. So the upshot is Weiss would cost us a decent compensation fee. Still I reckon their starting point this summer for him would be around £3m which would be quite high but if we got him for about £2m i wouldn't be upset, in fact him for £2m, Cuellar for £2m Bartley for £1.5m and one more quality striker to partner with Jela (If we could get someone of his quality again for the same price that'd be awesome) and I'd be happy with our summer spending, Maybe get a couple of loan players in to bulk the squad out also.
  14. Would we though as it's cross border? Celtic didn't have to pay for Ledley and he was under 23 also right? Bit english clubs would have had to pay 6m. Maybe the age cut off is different cross border though and Weiss would still cost us
  15. I think it's simply for accounting purposes that the youth player are contracted to rangrers development an we haveto buy them from them but it's really just moving cash from one part of rangers to another. Not heard of us having to pass a % on aswell though.
  16. I think Cuellar must be the only player in history whose injury time remains the same no matter how much time passes. It was "out for 3 months" a month ago, surely that's now down to 2 months? and even then he's since said he's recovering better than scheduled. As an aside, as much as i've started to dislike Bougherra over the last few weeks I would still love him to stay and have a CB pairing of Cuellar and Boogie (not sure Boogie's ego will take playing along side King Carlos though)
  17. It's more likely to come down to whether the correct procedure has been followed, and given that it appears Whyte has stated there is no way back for Bain before the matter has been concluded and Bain informed then there's at least scope to say he's got a leg to stand on.
  18. Who would Messi leave Barcelona for, even if they had to accept a £200k bid?
  19. Wont happen, no-one is found innocent in Scotland. Might think i'm being picky but it's guilty, not guilty and sometimes not proven, but no-one has to prove their innocence, it is for other to prove their guilt, sometimes, and not necesarilly in this case, guilt can't be proven but the crime was still committed. (Happens every single day with assault charges)
  20. I think it's only the youths that have been released so far so guys like Bendiksen who are "reserves" will still be contracted until the same time as other senior players which is probably 30th June/1st July.
  21. They are up in arms about this. It's why they're paranoid apparently. I don't get it, there's apparently something sinister in Rangers appointing a Rangers man as Director of Football.
  22. Disappointed with this, seemed like a cheap option for a backup/edge of the first 11 player, even at the initial reported £8k pw. Hope there's another good alternative option, some of the best players we've bought over the past few years weren't our number 1 targets and we only went after them after losing out on others (I'm sure we failed to get a few CB's before Cuellar) so we'll move on and hopefully bring in someone else. Still liked the look of this player though.
  23. Advocaat was Director of Football the season after he stopped managing us.
  24. Definitely, if that's what is happening, but noe of us know what is happening, there's every chance we're going to lose out on a player that the management team do rate higher than the wage offered by playing hardball and not upping the offer. Most people seem to see this guy as a back up or on the edge of the first 11, £4k seems low for that, especially if he has other offers (although there's every chance that is agent bullshit and we're calling his bluff)
