  1. Maybe just me... I don't care about other teams results and don't think this should be In the bd... once we have won the league again and are back in the cl that is when we can laugh at Scottish football.

That's all I care about. Couldn't give a monkeys about some diddy teams losing on penalty's to lower league opposition.

Yeah, I read a stat the other day that Waghorn was directly involved in more goals than any other player in the Championship.  Something like 16 goals and 11 assists.

Frightening eh. To be fair I liked waghorn. He kept getting in the positions just fluffed his chances too often. We sold him far too cheaply though.

Seems like a top guy though so I'm glad he's doing well

14 mins in the moaning started , I agree the players should do better but willing to go take the ball and go try something in that environment can’t be easy with 70% of the people in the ground ready to lambast you

You mean when they hit the bar? The team that finished 4th in the Macedonian league?

I dread the day we don't have high standards to be honest, because that is not what Rangers stands for. It is and will never be acceptable to lower our expectations.

If we are not capable of comfortably beating this mob, then I'd have concerns about our season to be honest.

Morelos and Waghorn seem quite alike.  Strong, lead the well, but lack in the finishing department.

Waghorn been on fire for Ipswich and would probably now cost 5 mill plus.

Morelos still brings something to the team imo... Although he needs to find his shooting boots because they've been AWOL since Xmas.

Apart from the start, the full atmosphere was a disgrace , aye but it’s a sell out , means fuck all , place is a joke

Think that was more to do with the performance. It was edgy and if we'd got that 2nd goal earlier I think the fans would have been louder.

Certainly wouldn't say it was a disgrace

Said over a year ago we cut our losses with this imposter. Costing us a wage and all rehab work going into him just for him to get injured when he is "close to fitness"

Would love it if he could be a success but that's looking highly unlikely, get rid and stop wasting all our time.

I actually totally agree he is an imposter. May not be his fault he was signed or that he keeps getting injured...

But for us at this club we need players who are capable of making an impact on the pitch... Sadly I don't think he will ever make it.

  7. Just waiting for the beerman and Aidan Wilson first team shouts to commence.

Mccrorie was the most ready and even he isn't that great... albeit at this moment in time.

The whole nonsense of the youths beating big European teams youth sides in glorified friendlys and then making out it shows we are up there is farcical.

Show me young players bursting on the scene and making a big impact in the first team and then I'll agree our youth side are making progress. Last time we had those were in division 3...

Prior to his appointment, Gerrard took in the derby clash at Ibrox when celtic had Jozo Simunovic sent off with the score at 2-2 and more than half an hour left on the clock.

The Liverpool legend fully expected the team he was about to inherit to make the numerical advantage count and steamroller the champions.
Instead, he watched in disbelief as ten-man celtic got a second wind and Rangers ran out of steam.

Gers were then blown away in two subsequent meetings by an aggregate scoreline of 9-0.

In the final game of the season at Easter Road they went from 3-0 down to 5-3 ahead, only to concede twice late on as Hibs salvaged a point.

For Gerrard, who prided himself on his impressive athletic prowess and stamina during a distinguished career, it was nowhere near good enough.
That’s why he has made fitness levels a priority over the next ten days at the club’s pre-season training camp in southern Spain.

He said: “The fitness is the thing that struck me most when watching them last season.

“If you want to play at the top end and fight for trophies, be in the running when the big prizes are given out, compete against the best, the first thing you have to do is be fit.

“You need to be ready for the challenges at the top level. If the fitness is not there, where do you go?

“You look at the group and where you can improve it and fitness is one of those areas.

“I watched Rangers close up in the Old Firm game at Ibrox and it was glaringly obvious to me that celtic were fitter and stronger on that occasion.

“It’s the easy thing to say ‘We didn’t get the luck’.

“But when you go into it in a bit more detail, if you’re a man up with that amount of time on the clock, I’d expect my team to run all over the opposition physically.

“I could also see signs of it in the last four or five games when I watched them as well. That’s probably a good reason why celtic have been quite successful.”

Gerrard has charged ex-Liverpool strength and conditioning coach Jordan Milsom with the task of knocking his squad into shape.

Milsom takes up the role as Rangers head of performance after spending the last eight years at Anfield.

Gerrard said: “It would have helped if they were fitter, stronger, in good shape, finely tuned and ready for the demands of football at the top level.

“If you’ve got all your squad finely tuned and in shape, it will help you.

“I’ve a lot of confidence in Jordan, who is an expert in that field. You can’t get any more qualified. Not just the qualifications but the way he goes about it, his mannerisms in the one-on-ones with the player and the dynamics in the gym and outside on the pitch. His delivery is spot on.”

While Gerrard will be working to get his players in peak physical condition during the Spanish trip, he will also assess whether those already at the club have the mental strength to cope with life at Rangers.

He said: “We all have to carry the burden of working for Rangers. I do, my staff do and the players have been told that’s the reality of it.

If you can’t carry the burden of playing for Rangers you’ll be found out pretty quickly and not just by the fans, but everyone looking in.

“You have to take that responsibility and the weight the badge brings. Nobody can escape that.”

Gerrard insists he will give everyone a chance to prove themselves.

He said: “What’s important for me is that I’ll judge everyone with a blank piece of paper.

There are places there up for grabs and I’ll know pretty soon who wants them.

“You have to earn them. It won’t just be given to them any more.

“Reputations and names, it’s not about that. It’s about the best players who are going to get results for us.”

The hard graft starts this morning in Spain, with Gerrard and No2 Gary McAllister anxious to start bonding with a squad which fractured under predecessor Graeme Murty.

Gerrard said: “The most important thing is for the players to get used to me and my staff and for the staff to get used to the players and start building relationships.

“We said to the players it is important we become one, we become a group and there are no cliques

“We are all after the same thing and that is success.

“The best way for us to do that is to fight for each other and pull in the right direction.

“Togetherness and team spirit, all these buzzwords you hear most pre-seasons, are what we’re looking for."

Wow, if he can walk the walk and actually instill this ethos in the players, half the battle is won, Walter built teams who would run through walls for each other and him, with every word he convinces me that we've done the right thing in bringing him in, proof of the pudding and all that of course, recruitment being key but seeing the -players already  training yesterday after being up about 4am to catch a flight shows what he's all about, Good to see Morelos smiling in then Willie Vass pictures as well

Its as you say all about walking the walk, we've had promising interviews from previous managers and it doesn't mean much.

All about what happens on the pitch.

No one is bigger than the club.

I agree and due to performances/age it's the right thing that he's gone.

I don't think the club have handled the wallace/miller issues well though. I don't believe for a second that their attitudes were the problem.

You can see that these are 2 players that care, that want to win every game. Can't say the same for the likes of windass, o'halloran etc

If we had a proper manager in I don't think whatevers gone on would have happened.

    Who should get it?

I think last season Wallace, Miller, Holt, Tav, Fod, Alves, Martin, Wilson and maybe even Ryan Jack? all had it which is frankly pathetic and unbefitting having it passed about so many people like it's a token gesture.

I'm a believer in it works best giving it to someone vocal at the back.

I've never seen Goldson play, but if he's the's big, ball-winning, composed defensive mainstay is he our best shout? there's also Alan McGregor who knows what it's about and is a vocal organiser.

    Who's your choice?

Pretty sure halliday and Dorrans captained us too? Madness

How would I know that they’ve been given the equivalent of a final written? Because a fine of four-weeks wages is the largest sanction clubs are allowed to issue - short of terminating a players’ contract.

So you are putting 2 and 2 together?

You said Wallace and miller. Miller didn't get a 4 week fine and he is out of contract.

You also said you don't get that for disagreeing with your boss. Joey Barton got a 12 week suspension and his contract terminated for an alleged disagreement. You have no idea what that fine is for, yet your original comment implies you know what went on and it was more than a disagreement. Can you back this up?

I don't mean to be all you said this you know that, but If you know something im intrigued.

Was that the shirt they retired for the guy that was pretty much consistently shite for the last two years, was told to stay away from the club by a previous manager and was then suspended along with his big pal after supposedly undermining a second manager in the same season, or was that a different shirt they retired?

I'd use the word manager loosely when talking about those 2.

Glad to see the captain will be coming back and I don't blame him for having a go at Murty after the 4-0 disgrace.

After the first 5-1 Old Firm defeat of last season Barton had a go at Warburton.  For doing so he was forced out the club and vilified by our supporters.  I don't see much difference between the Barton incident, and the one involving Miller and Wallace.  Yet there seems to be two completely different attitudes towards Barton and Wallace.

I think there are general differences in that one has been a troublemaker most of his playing days and is always likely to be judged. The other 2 are honest pros who under actual managers never caused the slightest bit of disruption.

That being said... I don't think Barton was out of order... The more I think of it i see similarities in murty and Warburton (spineless) I see experienced pros wanting more (Barton, wallace, miller)

The one thing all 3 have at the time of their incidents is that none of them were doing it on the pitch. If they had been I don't think we'd have reacted the same way.

That being said as a club we've hung all 3 out to dry in my opinion and I've said it before but there are many problems on and off the pitch that need resolved and I don't think this board have the resource/capability to do that.
