In the past, Scotland have actually been great pioneers in the development of football - and indeed during the 60's & 70's for a country our size, were quite influential players in Europe. Whilst there has always been a "toughness" in our game, we were quite skillful but certainly not cynical unlike many other teams in Europe. If the "do them" scenario is now the Scottish mentality - then it is a fairly recent thing.

I agree - the amount of money we spunked away in those years is unreal when you think about it. The ultimate failure (however not obscure) is the £2m+ wasted on Daniel Prodan who never played and was the eternal crock - even before we signed him
