  1. As I think others have suggested isn't this just a case of a club having to go along with its fans' emotions, while relying on the authorities to over rule the decision? If there is no sanity left in Scottish football and no decision for Rangers to enter a second tier division, then I personally would be sorry to see St Mirren go - I thought they played an attractive brand of football against Rangers, rare in the SPL.Have to admit I've only seen the one game.
  2. Surely Rangers was second in the league before administration and had been kicked out of Europe and the cups well before? Not everything can be blamed on Administration.
  3. The fans are innocent but the management, even pre Whyte , seems to have strayed into questionable practices, practices that the other clubs believe gave them an unfair advantage.
  4. Actually Matt plays for Busan in Korea.
  5. I'm a bit puzzled by this implicit comparison between the loyalties of manager and players. It seems unfair. The players who leave have credible c.v.s and seek to preserve their careers by moving to clubs that will offer better standards of play than Rangers can. What would it do to an International to play in Division 3? Of course there will be players who are at the end of their careers who lose little by being loyal. Ally is different. He hardly has a managerial cv that would enable him to move to another club and has nothing to lose by sticking with the club: his loyalty, which I do not question, has no cost.
  6. Has anyone calculated how easy it would be to get back into the SPL from the Third? I asssume that the best players will depart - certainly the foreign ones, as their careers would be damaged by playing at the levels they would endure. And don't forget they have secured walking rights. Once promoted to the SPL how quickly could we get back to a top two position given that new recruits could not be attracted by European games?
  7. I'm not sure I've got the guts to put forward such an uhpopular view, especially as I am far removed from Ibrox, but.... Ally has obviously been a source of great inspiration in the darkest days, but does that make him a great manager? Remember the criticisms of his performance before the disaster - his Europe failure, the early exit from the cups, Rangers losing its lead in the SPL, his eccentric team selection ( and of course his signing of Matt McKay and then failure to give him a fair chance). The financiers may be looking for someone with more imposing managerial credentials, especially if his presence does not guarantee the retention of the players. In such a case one would hope that he could occupy a post that would better exploit his qualities and status.
  8. Is it wise to hand over such details?
  9. Odd thing about this thread is that no one has mentioned that Matty McKay went from Ibrox to Busan and plays for them.
  10. Were the figures given?Surely the BBC is doing what would be expected of a news organisation. Would we expect them to protect Celtic if that club were in a similar situation? I'm sure there would be screams on the forum.
  11. I too found it passing strange that he would take on this task and depart as soon as Rangers has got out of debt.
  12. Why on earth not? Does anyone like their skinny chips? And surely there are other burger joints? That said I do wonder about discouraging firms from taking the risk of supporting Scottish football, or by extension individual clubs.
  13. You've missed "in" Matty, who left months ago for a Korean club. Incidentally he is I think 29. As I've observed elsewhere all this demonsterates the need for the resurrection of that hallowed Rangers tradition the weekly McKay thread. And it would take people's minds off all the stress and turmoil of the club's future. To aid in this note that there are two internationals coming up in the next month in which no doubt he will star for Australia.
  14. Matty is playing for a Korean club, and has been gone for months. This is what happens when the weekly McKay thread disappears. Come on , someone start a new one.
  15. Glory were rather lucky - their opposition missed a penalty and a plethora of certain goals, and lost in the penalty shoot out
  16. I assume he thinks there is no hope of finishing first - and I would suspect almost everyone would believe that. Rangers has suffered the loss of points and will be having a demoralizing disposal of players.
  17. The point is that koreans, and Japanese do play a style more like his than Rangers - and this is presumably one of the reasons Ally didn't play him. Craig Moore who played a more Rangers style while at the Roar could have given him better advice.
  18. Why the hell then do you think he signed for Rangers?
  19. Anyone else heard of this spell in Saudi Arabia? I haven't.
  20. He's an international and was a key member of the Australian team ( not playing this week because of suspension ). He's had hardly any first class games for Rangers in months - and every sign ,except for the recent interview with Ally, that his exile to the stands would continue. The Australian coach is considerably less than happy, and one would imagine that hangingon in the desperate hope that Ally would finally relent would have meant the end of Matt's international career. Given his role in the Australian team, his having captained the Roar to the double of premiership and grand final, and his being universally admired in Australia, I would hope he does fancy himself. Pity Ally did not appreciate him, or could not fit him into the Rangers more traditional British style of football. (As I've argued before, he would have been better suited to St Mirren's style)
  21. Two points.HOW long ago? Matt would have been playing in the Roar off season.
  22. Two points.1)How mahy years ago? 2)Matt's spells abroad would have been during the A League off season.
  23. Ally has mucked up any chance of wads for Matt. He obviously has hopes as he refused any chance of a free release back to the Roar, but how many games has McKay had in the last year? (By the way what has happened to the weekly provision of a McKay thread?)
  24. What happens if the club does change identity? Are the Rangers season tickets they bought in advance then worthless?
  25. Did heading Rangers polish his reputation? Might have been useful for business.
