  1. But you locked her in the toilet - makes progress a tad difficult
  2. Realise I'm inviting mass stoning but I'll take the risk.I'm a rookie Rangers follower and am very ignorant of the past - so make allowances. How is Sir Walter a legendary manager given the present financial plight, the quality of the team, and its play? Ally has after all been going for only a few months and the blame must be largely his predecessor's. Should not the greatness of Rangers be judged by their European achievements rather than by winning two horse races in Scotland? And of late success in Europe has been underwhelming or non-existent.
  3. Moore was Matty's captain at the Roar for some years and is a friend. He may even feel some responsibility for urging Matt to go to Rangers. The Roar need him back - our 36 game unbeaten streak has been followed by a run of four losses with injuries to key creative players.
  4. Former Socceroos star Craig Moore says Matt McKay may need to go out on a short-term loan deal in January, or even leave the club, to guarantee first-team football. And that could even mean a return to the A-League. Former Brisbane Roar captain McKay joined Scottish Premier League giants Rangers six months ago but has hardly featured under manager Ally McCoist. Moore, who admits he played a vital role in getting McKay to Rangers, said McKay's lack of first-team football is a concern for his national team prospects. Writing in his Courier-Mail column, Moore said the 28-year-old 'is suffering the same fate as so many other Australian players in Europe - he's not playing'. "I'm heading over to Scotland, so I will know more about Matty's situation and what he wants to do to ensure his career does not permanently stall," said Moore. "I will be encouraging him to leave the club, even if he goes on loan somewhere." Moore says a host of A-League clubs clubs would be interested in his services and he cites Mustafa Amini's deal with the Central Coast Mariners as an example of how it could work. "It would not be a unique situation, with Amini being bought in the off-season by German giants Borussia Dortmund before being loaned back to the Mariners," said Moore. "It's a win-win situation for everybody." http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/short-term-loan-best-option-for-matt-mckay-to-guarantee-
  5. To be needlessly provocative, is it such a great achievement to win two horse races? Progress in Europe would have much greater meaning, surely.
  6. Do huniliating exits from Europe fulfill the doom alluded to?
  7. Those of us who have knowledge of Matt's ability have praised it and urged that he play for the first team. We are convinced he would be of great value. Doubters have defended the failure of Ally to recognise his ability by claiming his performance does not match our claims. Part of the explanation is that Matt has been getting rustier. His last serious game for the Roar was in mid March at the end of our season. And he missed the pre season games played after his signing with Rangers. Apart from the limited opportunities he has had with Rangers ( the main one a game he played shortly after two hot and humid international games within a week, and a trip half way round the world )he has had to rely for his only serious game time on the internationals he has played for Australia. One assumes as he fails to get time at Rangers his international career will be endangered, denying him that source of game time. Unless something changes Ally will create the justification for his and the doubters' view of McKay and you will miss the qualities that he could offer with greater support and patience. So what to do? Perhaps he could be sent out on loan to such a club as Swansea which plays a style very familiar to him?
  8. My wife has stuck a gun in my back and is insisting on taking over for this post. She is overly feisty and aeons old devotee of Matty. Please don't blame me for whatever she writes! She starts - I have noticed that you have constantly made negative comments about Matty. I would even wonder if you are a reletive of someomne who is not happy about Matty to be at the Rangers for some reasons. I will start my rant now. This kind of post is just too much for us people who know how able and talented McKay is, and who are rather exasperated by how anit-football Ally's football is. I am beginning to think that Matty's cultured, pass and move, one touch football is wasted in this club. My suspicion is that he has far better tactical understanding than Ally, and also he is too technical and skillful for the majority of the team mates. I am no means saying that the Rangers should adopt tiqui taca in order to accommodate Matty. I just want to remind you that he used to be the captain of the team, branded as Roarcelona, which plays a similar type of football to Barca & Arsenal, and which has just made the record, 36 games undeafted and counting, equalling the unbeaten record of Real Sociadad, and chasing the likes of AC Milan and Arsenal for all time record. Instead of making constantly negative comments about McKay without much knowledge, or using him as a scapegoat for team's inability to play decent football, the forum should debate on how the Rangers could improve the level of football/players' skills. My rant is over for NOW.
  9. My memories are different - although I lived in London rather than Scotland.I seem to recall in my distant youth that there was always a scramble to escape before the National Anthem was played.
  10. Whatever you do don't look at Kosta's replacement, Berisha, our Albanian international who heads the A-League's goalscorers this season. You can look at his goals against Adelaide before we took pity and had him substituted.
  11. But that lead could be deceptive - how many games does Celtic have in hand?
  12. Setanta ain't carrying it here in OZ. Anyone know a site for live coverage?
  13. We can fool the authorities.Didn't a commentator describe him as young McKay? And he is obviously an unknown youngster given that his Rangers profile has him coming from Skelmersdale United.Almost a watertight case.
  14. Would it be wise to name him? Could set a bad precedent. The story rings true but you could imagine accounts being fabricated to damage someone you're having a fight with.Would the forum wish to be involved in such a case - what would be the legal position?
  15. But failed to clear the first hurdle to qualify for Europe.
  16. If themanager or the owner don't want to give him a game lend him out to Swansea.
  17. Cheating as I live in Brisbane and have supported the Roar since inception - and saw some of his Strikers games.Add on the internationals and I imagine it's two hundred or more games.
  18. From the comments of those who saw him play I think you now realise why Roar supporters felt his transfer fee was ridiculous. Great deal for Rangers.
  19. He was a foundation player of the Roar and early on he and Murdocca, the other half of the midfield engine, were termed the hobbits. They were however well respected.
  20. I think management agrees with you. They still have on his team profile that his previous club was an obscure English outfit that he would never even have heard of.This weeks after his arrival!
  21. Admirably blue tinted glasses.Rangers at the moment are demonstrably neither the greatest nor the most successful club in the world. The Gers may be the best in the SPL but that is not normally counted among the better leagues in the world. Matt comes from a club that has just played its 30th successive game without loss and is regarded as the dominant club in the A League. He was its iconic captain. He is regarded as a key player in the Australian national team. If he is reported as being frustrated I suspect you should rgard this as a reflection of his energy and commitment rather than arrogance. What you should realise is that one reason for his joining Rangers would have been the desirability of getting more game time and against some European clubs. Since his signing concern has been raised in Australia about whether lack of game time in the first team would damage his performance for the national side and in time his retention of his place. Trust there is no truth in the conspiracy theory suggested in a Roar forum thread that the move to Rangers was a result of the other teams paying Rangers to remove him from Australia.
  22. the trip would have been long but he was travelling from East to West which creates less jet lag than the other way round
