  1. He assisted with the first goal but not I think the later ones.
  2. Matt's game against Oman, a serious game against much better opposition than Malaysia, starts in about 45 mins.
  3. Just confirming, he is starting in the game.
  4. For those who have been unable to watch him he should be playing for Australia against Malaysia at 7 Brisbane time/ 8 Sydney time today in a friendly (about 2hrs 20 mins from now) .Next week Australia plays Oman in a qualifier.
  5. Fighting talk, mate.Matt has never been maligned and the Roar midfield was always well respected.
  6. In Australia Setanta decided to drop the game against Hibs and play a repeat of the game against Dumferline - without a word of explanation.
  7. naturally I'd claim it was because of McKay's absence. why wasn't he in the team - he clearly needs game time. P.S. for a good laugh see which team was his previous according to Rangers.he comes straight from Brisbane Roar but is down as from Skelmersdale Utd.
  8. The Rangers star does not resemble the Israeli one with its formation from 2 triangles. Pity.
  9. Israel and the US are allies but are Israel and the UK, apart from doubtless cooperation v. non state terrorists?sorry to continue this thread but my computer was ill.
  10. Great result, and without calling on McKay. With him of course Rangers would have doubled their score. Without him the Roar look a much weaker team.
  11. My apologies, I have been able to revisit the post and you are right. Indeed either the quotation has been invented or mangled - a rport in the third person changes to "we" without any explanation.
  12. At the moment I can't access the forum but from memory there was a quotation from the Roar CEO over the failure - direct from the horse's mouth rather than from a Celtic fan in Scotland.
  13. Fox Sports has reported in Australia that the Roar has not yet received the first of three instalments of McKay's transfer fee and is expressing concern. See the Roar forum on the Rangers McKay transfer thread.
  14. Unfortuately he is not renowned for scoring.
  15. His last international commitment ends on Tuesday, Scotland time, when he will be playing against the Saudis. I assume he will be flying north on the morrow.
  16. Our championship winning Roar team of last season would have done well in the SPL.Have a look at their football.
  17. Don't recall any adverse comments from Oz.He would have been one of the most respected players in the A League - the national league, and was the captain of the championship winning club.Nor do I recall any adverse commentss from the pundits over here, very much the reverse.
  18. He was a midfielder for the Roar, and as I recall for the Brisbane side in the previous national league. He has played as a midfielder and sometimes as a left back for the national team ( the Socceroos have a problem in that position - Carney is injured and was not a left back ).
  19. Moderators please note there is an existing Matt McKay thread.
  20. Win for Aussies 2 1. But the Thais scored first before a stunned stadium. My wife was not the only one to have forecast a 6 o victory for the Socceroos, ranked about a hundred places above their opponents.Indeed at one time on the day of the game you could have got odds of over thirty to one against a Thai victory. I should also have mentioned the great reception Matt's name got on the reading out of the team's names. He reveived about twice the volume given to any of the others - the stadium, Suncorp is the home of Brisbane Roar of whom he is the favourite son.
  21. Socceroos had a pretty horrible game against Thailand. Perhaps the srangest of the Manager's decisions was to pay Matt at left back, a position to which he is not well suited. As Bosnich said before the game Matt was a victim of his versitility.Apparently the plan was that the Thais would be thrust back and he would be able to play up the field. He did get some chance to shine in the second half and assisted in both the Aussie goals To reassure doubters on his physicality he got a yellow card.
  22. He should be playing against Thailand in about eight hours from now - his farewell to Brisbane. He has another international in about 4 days time and then he should be ready to fly to Ibrox.
  23. What concerned me with the first leg against the Slovenian team was that they seemed much nippier than Rangers - and that translates into greater pressure and danger. I didn't see the second leg but I imagine they parked the bus and hit on the counter. If true this could give the impression that the Rangers were doing better than their actual performance. I imagine that the Slovenian tactics are less likely to be met in the SPL. Or am I just an ignorant observer? I'd also like to remind everyone that the full strength of Rangers was not available e.g. McKay and Naismith could not be on the field.
