  1. That was good of him, after spending a whole game hiding behind a bus ticket in case he actually had to try and help the team win a critical match.
  2. At least Ortiz got close enough to be able to foul someone every now and again. Edu fouled a few shadows when he actually managed to get near one, showed how my wife would tackle a football player if she was a little more feminine, and did an impression of her pulling the covers over her head during a thunderstorm.
  3. I'd say we missed more sitters than that. It doesn't deflect from the fact that the team neither started playing with a high tempo, or got in the face of the opposition and defended further up the park. Just shows you how shit Maribor are when we were carving out chances while playing like a junior team.
  4. Anybody trying to sherrick Broadfoot for the performance deserved to get told to fu ck off IMO. Unless they were trying to bundle Edu into a transit van to take him to the airport at the time, of course.
  5. We were going to defend further up the park, get right in their faces, and play with a high tempo. Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but either Ally doesn't have half the communication skills we thought he had, to get this across to the players, or he hasn't a clue what the players he picked are capable of. He better decide which is the case and get it sorted, because if he doesn't, he'll be using his communication skills on TV where it doesn't matter who the fu ck can do what.
  6. Edu takes an age to turn, and even then it's usually the wrong way. He can hardly control the ball, and I'm sick of watching him take too long to play a pass, and when he does he has no vision whatsoever, under any circumstances, and passes the buck on. He has the heart of a mouse and couldn't tackle a fish supper, which is a bit of a disadvantage in the position he plays. He can't win a header in the middle of the park, and invariably puts a free header straight to an opponent when under no pressure. His pass back header to their goalie tonight when presented with a decent chance to make him work was a fu cking embarrassment. When the opposition have the ball, Edu is always at least 10 yards away. When we have the ball, he invariably stays within about 2 yards of an opponent, and runs beside the guy. There is nothing about this guy that even resembles a player who should be playing for Rangers. I recently saw a fly on the wall bit of footage of Edu in the USA dressing room while away with his country's team. They were larking around and his team mate stated to the camera, that "Mo thinks football is just his hobby". Sadly, I think this is no joke, and is actually part of his problem.
  7. There is no way we can possibly spend much time practicing free kicks. No team who puts in the practice can possibly be so woeful at them so consistently. I watched Davis and Wylde discussing what to do with one about 30 yards out, and it was apparent that nothing had been practiced or planned for such an unlikely event. It's embarrassing how many players have a wee go, to see how they get on with taking one during the course of a game.
  8. Trying to play with Edu must be soul destroying. Edu really has to be moved on...although it will probably mean big Lee will take his place when required, and play in the same, useless manner.
  9. Anyone giving Edu more than a 1 is very generous. He turns like an oil tanker, then plays a telegraph pass to whoever is nearest. He couldn't tackle a fish supper, and has the courage of a mouse. Steven Davis must wonder what he has done to have to rely on him as a midfield partner. He'll never make it at Rangers.
  10. I'd have said the UEFA cup and Europa league were the same thing, different format.
  11. ESPN programme information has Rangers bidding to reach the Europa group stages for the first time.
  12. If that turns out to be true, there are going to be a lot of happy campers at Ibrox.
  13. If the first leg had been at Ibrox, he would have been eligible to play, but wouldn't have been able to. Now he can.
  14. Who is the contact for submitting an article for the mag?
  15. Did you never tie rolled up newspaper into a ball with string, when you were a wean and the baw got burst?
  16. I remember having a titter when Walter once described his taste in music as being "catholic".
  17. It seems to be fashionable to have a fit of weeping and wailing every time a player is "played out of position" these days. Walter used to get it in the neck for having men play relatively unfamiliar roles for the good of the team, and it hasn't been unknown already for Ally to be criticised for doing the same. OK, some times it doesn't work, but our history has shown us that a bit of experimentation can unearth greatness. I'm not advocating fixing something that's not broken with a player, but sometimes verstility needs to be utilised, and also sometimes a switch of position sees a player discovering his true potential, whether by accident or design. Jimmy Millar went from wing half to striking legend after a switch, and the same goes for his partner who was tried on both wings previous to moving inside. Sandy Jardine was tried in different positions before becoming a World Class right back...and took part in our finest hour alongside a legendary striker playing centre half, and a midfielder who became the best sweeper I've seen at Ibrox. The Ledge was a very good right half, but was asked to play right back in one of our country's most famous wins, scoring in the process, and also finished his career at left back. Gio filled in as left back when required, as did The Hammer, and even our present manager played as a midfielder at times before becoming one of the best strikers we ever did see. As I've said, sometimes a player moves out of necessity, and sometimes it is to see if he suits another position...but it's often been a good thing, and not something to get our knickers in a twist over, as some do. Feel free to add other players who switched position to the benefit of Rangers.
  18. In the unlikely event that Anelka came to Ibrox, does he not have a bit of a reputation for being disruptive in the dressing room? I could have seen Walter making sure that didn't become a problem, but I'm not sure if Ally would struggle to handle it (because I haven't seen him dealing with such things yet).
  19. I read elsewhere that it was 1st September...but don't take that as gospel.
  20. We have a big enough squad, and a good mix of youth and experience. Another touch of real quality should be the only reason for spending now. Sign a first pick player, or go with what we have.
  21. Thanks for the welcome. I wasn't suggesting playing him there for the hell of it. I was suggesting him as a possibility if we were short of a striker due to injuries or whatever. His touch might not be great, as others have said, but his pace would certainly get him behind defences. Some may not like the idea, but sometimes this kind of switch comes off. Ralph Brand was a decent winger, but an even better strike partner.
