  1. i find it strange that there are so many here, thinking that we should stroll to the title next season, with the current squad we have. when almost every other thread complains about the poor quality of football, we are playing. off course we should be playing better, but whether or not Ally remains or is replaced by "the special one" of Chelsea does not disguise the fact we are poor. we need to get ready Now (this summer) to get some talent in, C.B. & R.B. at least, the logic of waiting until we have "strolled" to the championship, then find ourselves promoted to the top tier, and then looking for talent, i fear is leaving it too late. will those "don,t spend another penny" posters sit happily against the Mhanks if we are getting a drubbing? of course this requires money, i certainly hope the current board after their 120 day review will have some answers? if not i think the Dave King bandwagon will gather pace. at the moment i am prepared to give the current board time, but not unlimited time.
  2. to lazy to google, but i think Derek Parlane scored our other goal. strangely the big icelander who scored twicefor septic, later took over the lease of one of the most famous bluenose boozers in Bridgeton, the Mermaid in James Street
  3. so was i glad,it never went to penalties, no viagra in those days
  4. finest memory was the part he played in an away euro tie at at P.S.V., which we won 3-2 he was simply outstanding that night. the memory is enhanced by the fact i was into the knickers of a female whose allegiance lay at the piggery, i had told her that i was going to "give her one" for every goal rangers scored, after giving her a 3 timer, i had to remind her that away goals counted double lol, happy days. no i never married her, wrong pedigree.
  5. i am neither pro nor anti King. nor pro or anti Ally, i am Pro Rangers but i sincerely believe we need major investment to compete in the Premier League and in Europe. i also struggle to accept the confidence that many have on here that our current squad is good enough to stroll the the Championship next season, when every other thread here is complaining of pish poor football. i am amazed how many fans are content to allow us to be run the way we were pre G. So,ness, when the so called New Firm were major forces. we "tried" lol to buy Willie Miller from Aberdeen and offered him less than he was getting from the sheep. of course there were excesses during the SDM era, some that should never be repeated, but to think we can thrive without investment in the playing squad is naive . so i do agree with King on that point at least, but if the current board has plans for another share issue to raise capital for the team, i will back them to the hilt. please no "dont give Ally any money replies .
  6. albeit, i think we should have little difficulty beating the Coatbridge tims. i would rather not speculate on a semi final line up until it,s done and dusted.
  7. i certainly hope you are correct. however to compete in the Premier League, never mind Europe, we need a lot of money. and i hope the C.E.O. has plans to raise money from somewhere. i am surprised at the amount of fans who seem content to have our club, run on the same lines as pre Souness.
  8. Baz, I.M.O. was a fantastic player for us. could do with him now passing sideways and moaning, rather than lumping the ball up in the air for Daly Good Luck in player managing the Orange Tops i remember away to Villareal, he was simply outstanding and the best player on the park by a country mile. we were very unlucky not to get through that night.
  9. Klos Ricksen Cuellar Amoruso Numan Gattusso Van Bronkhorst Albertz Laudrup Cannigia Prso. SUBS Niemi F De Boer R De Boer Mols Reyna Arteta Amatto
  10. i remember him in the Main Stand at the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland Annual Divine Service, (dingy was not wearing colours, not suggesting he was an Orangeman) just observing 73 or 74 i think, when the Orange Lodge had their service there every year in those days
  11. the highlight of the season was beating Motherwell, a performance that was sadly, never even remotely looked like being repeated. it did prove that we did have players who could hold their own, in better company. however, i would allow Ally a proper transfer window (jan 2014) before passing judgement on his ability to take us forward. the signings of Law and Bell, look like a step in the right direction
  12. i was at the game, my fondest memory was at the Airport on the way home, when the bars were full of bears celebrating, people were going on to any plane it didn,t matter, one bloke said to his mate, fuck it we,ve missed our flight, his mate replied in all seriousness fuck it we,ll just get the next one, as if they were talking about a no. 52 bus security was not like to-day, and i think the airport staff just got bears on any plane to clear the airport. i did make it back to see the parade at Ibrox. magical fond memories
  13. while personally i would not want Kenny Miller back. i think fans of thr late great Jim Baxter would disagree, many others have came back.
  14. i have been a strong supporter of Chuck, but i do fear the timing of this announcement indicates there is more "dirty linen" to come. on a lighter note i can confirm that Lex Gold will NOT be Rangers next C.E.O. as it just would not do, to have that our last 3 to be???
  15. exactly, i posted very similar after you, Sorry i had missed your post, or would not have posted mine
  16. quite good, apart from post split 1 team idle every week, so we are back i top tier, imagine the anomalies , this could create e.g. week before O.F. game 1 has free week, i have always favoured 3 leagues of 14, i would have the top SIX, playing home and away total 36 games. giving bigger clubs more time for Europe (one day) and internationals bottom 8 would play 40 games, giving more income
  17. that would only cause more accusations after split, 7 games 4 home 3 away? or vice versa, when we return to the top, the last O.F. game Ibrox or Porkheid?:not ideal IMO
  18. the conspiracy of silence from the media on these double standards is shameful
