  1. Agree about a Salery structure but not age. It should be about their ability. The current 30 something's are not good enough but as someone mentioned there are always David Weirs.
  2. anyone that wasn't King or Murray were bad guys.
  3. Big proud daddy Bear Good man and WD to your girl Keep the avatar. Me likes.
  4. No idea what's on Wikipedia but I'm sure if you look up any book (and there are many out there) books you'll get similar if not the same info. Your probably right, there may be no documented evidence as much of this type of stuff is anecdotal. Smarter people than me appear to accept that the gangs in glasgow was the source of the song, it became a football anthem in the late 20's. The police routed the gangs in the 30's and many gang members joined the orange order. So while there may not be historical documents to coroberate I'd kinda go with the body of anecdotal evidence. Your right that one line has been deemed sectarian and while the word has origins that don't mean catholic , in recent times it is listed in reputable dictionaries as a slang derogatory term for a catholic. We probably shouldn't sing it as it does bring negative focus on our club but d that does not give us some form of moral high ground and it does not make it right. If someone finds something offensive they have every right to be offended and to say they are offended. Doesn't mean their opinion is any more valid than mine. If I said you were an ugly fcuk does that mean I'm bigoted against ugly people and should get the jail? Seriously!
  5. The song in this form was originally sang by a Bridgton (Brigton to the locals) gang known as the Billy Boys of Brigton Cross. They were around in the 20's and 30's and were one of the multitude of violent brutal gangs in Glasgow at that time. They started following Rangers in the late 20's (a side note: this blows the argument that the red and black socks represent being up to the knees in fenian blood as we started wearing those sock around 1915). As the police started to supress the gangs lots of the young men from protestant gangs joined the orange order instead and the song was adopted from there.
  6. They are not mutually exclusive. It should be fair and equal and that's the part that is missing from the whole pseudo offended syndrome. Equality. However whether there is a level playing ground or not we as supporters and our club should always act with a sense of dignity and class. This does not mean that we sit in silence, it means we stand up and be assertive in a dignified manner. For me the songs don't hold any real significance. That does not mean my love for the club is any less. I'm not going to get upset at being called a h**. The septic songs are not offensive in themselves. The IRA supporting fans is the part I find offensive. We should be challenging the bitterness and hatred not simply acting all offended because someone with less dignity does it to us.
  7. He's improving week on week. Never going to be flashy flair player but at least he can pass, will fight his corner and has some drive about him. Just what we need just now. At this rate he'd be one for keeping in the SPFL.
  8. Thank god for the big man. Hopefully that will open a flood for him

  16. He's been linked with us before (?last year). Would be a real asset. Wouldn't be cheap but I reckon would be value for money.
  17. Who to trust. King or Ashley. Don't trust either. What I'm holding onto is Wallace and Nash both have decent business pedigrees.
