Agree with this. It all comes down to money in the end. The only reason we have King and the cowboys is because there was no-one out there willing and able to back the club with the type of money we needed to get back to the top in quick time. Instead, we have King's relatively small (for a club of our size) injections of cash to just about keep the show on the road, but nothing more than that. He spins it for all he is worth, but he'll never be able to attract the level of investment needed. He's not even the shit-hot businessman we are led to believe - I would not be surprised if we end up having to pay up following a 'wrongful dismisssal' case. Having said that, though, we should still be doing better than his, given the players' wage bill.

They really, really need to get it right this time. Next season was to be the one when we put up a serious challenge for the title, so everything (managerial team, DOF if we are going down that route, and player signings) has to be in place over the next three months or so if there's to be any hope at all.

Again, I suggest that you have another look at my post. I said that I imagine that McLeish would be good at the stone-age shouting and bawling. I don't have any proof that he has ever shouted at players, but then I haven't researched this. It's my opinion, based on the quite backward approach he has to tactics, and the tedious style of football he is associated with. This forum is about options, and that's mine. You are of course free to disagree. As I say, we'll no doubt get to see how effective and entertaining his Rangers team is over the period ahead. I'll be happy to give him credit if I'm proved wrong, but I've seen nothing in his career so far to convince me that he is the man Rangers need right now.

Suggest you read my post again. I didn't say that being a good public communicator ( as Warburton generally was) guarantees effective organisation of the team. However, it seems improbable that an inability to communicate clearly in public doesn't lead to problems when trying to communicate with, and organise a team. And, by the way, I don't think SAF was that bad at communicating in public.

I know that McLeish worships at the feet of SAF but are you seriously suggesting that he's in that class as a manager?

Hard to believe that someone who can't communicate effectively in public turns into an ace communicator and organiser when the dressing room door is shut, but I guess we'll see how effective the McLeish approach is over the weeks and months ahead, because it looks as if it's coming our way.

I must have missed the times when he was sharp and concise - for me, he always struggled to put sentences together, which is part of the reason why I never rated him as a manager. I imagine he is good at the stone-age managerial shouting and bawling in the dressing room, but the game has moved on from all that nonsense.
