  1. Well up to the usual standard of Scottish refereeing ...
  2. No, no, no, you've got it all wrong. The club chairman and Hampden Blazers who conspired against Rangers in 2012 told us that everything would be fine. Of course you can take down your biggest club and it won't have any adverse effect on your 'product'.
  3. They really, really need to get it right this time. Next season was to be the one when we put up a serious challenge for the title, so everything (managerial team, DOF if we are going down that route, and player signings) has to be in place over the next three months or so if there's to be any hope at all.
  4. Me too, which is why I would like to see Murty plus the senior players (especially Miller) left to run things for a few weeks while a proper recruitment exercise takes place. I don't think this is going to happen though.
  5. Whatever the total opposite of 'the dream team' is - this would be it.
  6. We've become too used to the turgid stuff, as that's what we got with the previous managerial team too ...
  7. Yes, and wasn't McLeish's first decision when he became manager to let Miller go to Wolves? Or is my memory playing tricks? I think Miller was away on loan and McLeish decided not to bring him back?
  8. Again, I suggest that you have another look at my post. I said that I imagine that McLeish would be good at the stone-age shouting and bawling. I don't have any proof that he has ever shouted at players, but then I haven't researched this. It's my opinion, based on the quite backward approach he has to tactics, and the tedious style of football he is associated with. This forum is about options, and that's mine. You are of course free to disagree. As I say, we'll no doubt get to see how effective and entertaining his Rangers team is over the period ahead. I'll be happy to give him credit if I'm proved wrong, but I've seen nothing in his career so far to convince me that he is the man Rangers need right now.
  9. Suggest you read my post again. I didn't say that being a good public communicator ( as Warburton generally was) guarantees effective organisation of the team. However, it seems improbable that an inability to communicate clearly in public doesn't lead to problems when trying to communicate with, and organise a team. And, by the way, I don't think SAF was that bad at communicating in public.
  10. I know that McLeish worships at the feet of SAF but are you seriously suggesting that he's in that class as a manager?
  11. Hard to believe that someone who can't communicate effectively in public turns into an ace communicator and organiser when the dressing room door is shut, but I guess we'll see how effective the McLeish approach is over the weeks and months ahead, because it looks as if it's coming our way.
  12. Yes, he was grinning away the whole time. He knows he's coming back. God help us.
  13. And the same chairman tells us he was willing to waive the club's right to £700k last week.
  14. Maybe there's something in between the cavemen and the modern theorists ... I don't think that's McLeish though.
  15. Go with Murty plus the senior players (especially Miller) while the job is advertised over the next 4-5 weeks, then make the permanent appointment following a proper process.
  16. I agree with you, apart from the bit about taking him in the short-term. I think we should avoid at all cost.
  17. I must have missed the times when he was sharp and concise - for me, he always struggled to put sentences together, which is part of the reason why I never rated him as a manager. I imagine he is good at the stone-age managerial shouting and bawling in the dressing room, but the game has moved on from all that nonsense.
  18. Agree. Plus, he is even less coherent when he speaks then he used to be. I have no confidence that he would be able to organise and motivate players.
  19. I've been watching Rangers since 1968 and bought season tickets for a good part of that time, but I'm getting tired of being taken for a mug, and if they appoint McLeish to the job permanently I'll be paying on an occasional game basis rather then by season ticket.
  20. Yes - a huge mistake. I really don't see why there is a rush to appoint him (as seems to be the case). Let Murty and the senior players (especially Miler) run things for a few weeks, while the post is opened up for applications, then make the permanent appointment.
  21. The problem with Scottish coaches, including McLeish, is that their buddies in the Scottish sporting media overrate their abilities and back them to the hilt, even when they are clearly failing. McLeish's media pals were devastated when we took the long overdue decision to let him go.
  22. Which is why I won't be renewing until I see who the new manager is.
  23. I would let Miller do all the team talks for a few weeks while the manager's job is opened up for applications. Rather have that than McLeish, even in the short term. Just listening to him stumbling through his pundit's job - please don't bring this guy back ...
