John McGovern from Tranent never came home from Ibrox - he was in the royal engineers. He was given a funeral with full military honours from the regulars and the territorials and a 10 gun salute at the graveside, his cap, belt and sidearm atop his coffin. He travelled on the ormiston RSC - he was only home on leave that new year.

Stephen Sullivan the guy behind todays Sean Fallon article in the herald wrote it was 66 men who died. The niece of Margaret Ferguson phone up the paper to ask for it to be corrected and they told her she was being picky. Shame on them.
