  1. FFS, Get a grip, its a game at the end of the day. And its the same club. The banter and the rivalry and the comraderie goes on, wherever we play.
  2. To be honest, £5.5m going on zero, was a piss take. Especially when there was talk of pumping in millions, buying new players, selling the naming right... mouths should have been zipped shut until this was over. I never thought it would come to this - surely a negotiated settlement where we slowly paid off our debts over the next 20 or 30 years would have been the sensible outcome.
  3. £45m in cash by the time we return - if we go down. Anyone think this is possible?
  4. He did us well in the past, but looking back, total recklessness with the tax.. I would still like to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding Whyte, but its hard. At the least he simply turned a blind eye to any suspicions.. If anyone even looks like a shifty bastard it is him. Perhaps if Murray's personal business hadn't been hit so bad it would be a different story.
  5. Somehow I don't think it will be too rosy for them without us.. Say we did go down...Sky isn't going to splash out for the likes of Celtic v Ross County. Reduced gate money..wage bills slashed ..Players leaving.. Regular humpings in the group stages.. Let them have their 3 tainted titles - By the time we are back, they will be in a lot worse shape than now.
  6. Yes, it was shitty football, but do the ends justify the means ? They held out for penalties and history will show their name on the cup. The only way to stop games like this would be to widen the goals. Which they probably should have done in the year 2000 to make a fresh start. But as it is, parking the bus can win games, and it ain't going to end anytime soon.
  7. lol, it's better to know the facts instead of living in ignorance. If we been given the facts in the 80's, we could have been as rich as Norway by now. Instead, Labour and Tory governments used the official secrets act to cover up a report that predicted huge oil wealth in an Independent Scotland. That's another fact right there. Anyway, 'independence' comes in various degrees. The referendum is really on 'Independence within Britain within the EU' - not to become completely separate. That's why it will probably pass - once everyone knows we will still keep the pound, the queen etc, and have close links. It just means a bit more economic power and influence and wealth within the British Isles. It's a good thing
  8. Jesus Christ, guys that apparently work in the industry, and know fuck all about the facts. The tax is on the REVENUES , ffs. It doesn't matter who licenses the fields - the government controls the tax rate. Do some research, if you don't believe me.
  9. If you really work in the industry you should know more about it - the fields are LICENSED to the oil companies. And the borders can go out to 200 miles, not 12 miles. Most of the money comes from the revenues - the 60-70% tax on each barrel of oil. Then the companies are taxed again on their profits. Around 90% of the oil is in Scottish waters - according to international law. Most of my guys I know who work in the industry know the real story. One of my mates works with Faroe, and says all the Norwegian guys feel sorry for us.
  10. Lots of pish on here about Rangers fans voting SNP - I suspect most of them aren't Scottish and have some kind of agenda - I don't see any conflict at all between voting SNP and being British as well, and neither do most Rangers fans - Govan votes SNP. We will still be Scottish and British after independence. The same friends and family, same island.. Only difference is political - we will control our economy like a normal country. Most of the wealth and power in the UK goes straight to London, and we are supposed to be grateful for a few handouts.. We would be suckers for putting up with that forever, when we have a chance to get as rich as Norway. I think the richer a country gets, with better living standards for everyone, then irrelevant things like religion start to lose importance. We can get back to being a football club, not a political party.
  11. Congrats to Chelsea - but to be honest it looked like they were holding out for penalties right from the start - 34 shots to 9.. Parking the bus is a valid tactic at times, though.
  12. Just hoping this newco plan isn't considered some kind of accounting trick that turns out to be another timebomb. That's all we need.
  13. Tactical Genius, my hairy arse. The simplest and most likely explanation is that he thought he could get away with buying the club using its own future revenues. He figured that HMRC would agree to a long-term deal, and he would never get found out. Nothing else makes logical sense.. I just don't believe he imagined we would be forced into administration.. Just for starters, who would want to deal with hundreds of pissed off fans wanting your scalp ??
  14. That's what I'm thinking... maybe a negotiating tactic.. Take something rather than nothing.
  15. Maybe a one-off protest but it wouldn't happen for any length of time. They would boycott us in return - Supporters would soon get fed up singing to ourselves, and the team would miss the support. What good is it if the smaller teams go bust and become even more shite ? We need to be playing against a certain standard of opposition to have a decent chance in Europe. Although that's up in the air at the moment anyway I suppose.
  16. It looks like he was mostly just out for himself all along. Took a gamble that HMRC wouldn't fuck us over - Then he could sell the club on to someone with deeper pockets once a tax-repayment deal had been made. If it had worked, then maybe he would be the hero.
  17. It looks simply like he thought he could buy the club , mostly with its own future revenues - and never get found out. Because he gambled that HMRC would never force us into administration. So fuck Whyte and fuck HMRC - they are both equally to blame for this mess.
  18. Exactly. We would see who really is committed to the club.
  19. Whyte seems like a chancer - but not happy that HMRC wouldn't be reasonable about spreading out the tax bill. Administration could have been avoided otherwise. I suppose it is reasonable that Whyte wasn't prepared to sink his own money into paying off the tax bill. But what we all really wanted I suppose was someone with deeper pockets - not some bullshitter.
  20. So he is basically saying is that HMRC screwed us - by refusing to let us pay off the tax debt gradually.
  21. Still can't quite get my head round it.. Assuming its true, can anyone explain the repercussions? Who would be worse off here - Rangers, Whyte, or the ticket agency? Surely they wouldn't have put themselves into a situation where they are left with £24m of useless tickets ???
  22. Yes we do in the current set-up. Either team could survive, but would be a LOT poorer. SKY insists on four old firm games a year for a start. And attendances would soon drop off without the banter and the passion that the rivalry brings.
  23. Not a chance in hell - no-one could prove we wouldn't have won these titles anyway. And the penalty has already been paid with administration.
