  1. If we sell Lee Wallace, I'll not be a happy bear. He's an incredible asset, has qualities that make him the best candidate for Captain once Jig retires, he gives us a really strong left wing as well which is a bit unusual...
  2. Is it bad that all I can think of is that thread from the other day where someone was talking about "Record winds in a row"?
  3. There's not a team like the Glasgow Rangers. There is not one and there never shall be one.
  4. That doesn't make him weak, that makes him stronger and better than any of them. You don't get many people like that, who're able to turn the other cheek, most people give in to some base desire for revenge and it's those people who just make heated situations worse. I'm pretty proud that we're fronted by a man who would seek to find the good in everybody around him. Mainly because I think "no-one likes us, we don't care" is a load of shite.
  5. "These cunts are now on a crusade. Them against EVERYBODY. They will milk this for everything they can and believe me when they get back to the top table they will absolutely wipe the floor with ALL of us. Their payback will be unbearable. Celtic should be shiting themselves" -Unnamed Prophetic Jambo.
  6. Patient bear is Aye Ready. Thrilled about the result, thought the performance was solid, if not spectacular. Falkirk didn't really look our equals at any point and the stats showed that. Makes me think we'll be hard pressed, even against weak premiership opposition but I don't think we'll be automatically outclassed so as long as the boys step up and play to their full capacity we're in with a proper fighting chance.
  7. Sorry to hear about Big Jon's Dad... Another cracking goal tonight, especially in those circumstances.
  8. The difference between him and Whittaker was night and day, when Lee came on he did very well, as everyone at Ibrox has come to expect. I definitely think he should get more starts for Scotland, anything which gets him competing on a semi-regular basis with opposition of a higher calibre than what we're facing at the moment is no bad thing, so long as he avoids injury. (My return key's buggered so please forgive the lack of paragraphs) Just reading over this thread I find it depressing that so many bears are so anti-Scotland, not just the national team, but in general... I mean, is hatred for "Tartan Trannies" hatred specifically for members of the Tartan Army or for anyone who wears/has worn a kilt? What about all the proud Rangers men who've worn them over the years, from Walter Smith to the Broomloan Bagpiper? Or disparaging remarks towards Scotland fans as "a bunch of Teuchters", as opposed to the four Teuchters we sing about every week for having a dream to start a football team, some of whom were also instrumental in the formation of the national side? Do you think they'd be thrilled to see that some Rangers fans treat their country and culture with nothing short of contempt in the belief that this is how a Rangers fan should feel? I understand that after the last two years, a lot of us feel at odds with the rest of Scottish football, and maybe some (who possibly have a disproportionate perspective on the importance of football on general politics) feel that this extends to wider Scottish society; but I don't think throwing in the towel and letting them have monopoly over expressing pride in the nationality we all share (whether we choose it or not) is the answer. When I was much younger (before I knew anything about all the sectarian pish) and started following football, I couldn't understand why any Scottish person would want to support Celtic, there was nothing Scottish about their iconography or their colours, Rangers in the meantime played in blue and white and had a fucking Lion Rampant as their badge... Nowadays it almost seems like Celtic are more comfortable in Scottish skin than a lot of Rangers fans who have taken to shunning it. I think if we were to make more of an effort to take it back rather than letting them have it without a fight it would make so much more of a statement and irritate them so much more than throwing the toys out of the pram and refusing to accept the reality of the situation. Even if we are British, we are Scottish, we have always been Scottish and we always will be; that used to mean a lot to this club and its supporters and the sooner it does again, the better (in my humble opinion of course).
  9. I was quite disappointed when they recently got rid of a piece of graffiti which had stood for all my years and said "Fuck Tory England" near the village in Ayrshire where I'm from; it had just become politically relevant again.
  10. I have a feeling Dunfermline away is gonnae be an absolute bastard...
  11. Does that mean anyone who sings "Bring on the Hibs, the Hearts and the Celtic" is now under suspicion as well?
  12. I feel a wee bit bad for the criticism I gave him at the match today in the knowledge that he's just lost his Dad, that's really rough. I didn't understand that was the reason behind the standing ovation, which I have to say confused me at the time... I was annoyed every time someone passed him the ball because I felt that 9 times out of 10 no good would come of it. I also feel the statement someone made of "he thinks he's better than he is" seemed pretty relevant, he always seems to try big and difficult shots which ultimately go nowhere and which deprive other players of good goalscoring opportunities, if only he played a little less selfishly. I was talking to a Hearts fan earlier in the week who was lamenting the fact we'd taken their "star" player... I actually ended up saying "Please, please take him back!" But I concede what some people are saying on here, he's not the Rangers player he could be right now but if he comes onto form then he might be something special.
  13. I do worry about our reliance on the second 45 to do all the scoring because there will (hopefully) come a time in the Scottish Cup where we'll be playing against opposition who aren't part timers and who will have the fitness to challenge us for the full '90. When we're at our best then we dictate play throughout the match and we really should step it up against these League 1 teams in preparation for tougher challenges ahead. Overall I'm certainly not complaining though, it's lightyears ahead of last season!
  14. You might get a bit of a shitstorm here for not "toeing the party line" so to speak, but this really needed said. People from all sorts of backgrounds made incredible sacrifices for the freedoms we enjoy and there's no reason their efforts should go unsung, especially on sectarian grounds. Also, whilst I feel the legacy of respect our club has for the armed forces is a very positive thing, the only thing a Rangers fan should be "pro" by default is Rangers Football Club. The club itself does not seek to exclude fans on the basis of their religion, nationality or political beliefs, I don't really think fans should take it upon themselves to police this either or forcibly project their values onto other people.
  15. Loved the wee "yes!" after the first goal .
  16. Could that issue not be solved if more of these Gers fans used their brains for a few seconds instead of just acting on the first thought that comes into their heads? It was the same thing at a Cup final at Hampden a few years back, where they had a few guys out playing the bagpipes and the announcer called them "one of Scotland's up and coming celtic music acts" or something... "Celtic" with a hard "c". Anyways, some bears started booing these poor lads who were only there to play some music and try to entertain everyone. I felt quite fucking embarrassed really, if they'd bothered to actually think about the fact that "celtic" =/= Celtic Football Club then those lads would have been able to enjoy their day getting out to play in front of a huge crowd at a cup final... Same thing with allowing erroneous association to prevent us from being able to extend the same courtesy to our top goalscorer we would be able to extend to any other player in our squad. It just seems fucking silly to me.
  17. By about the 55th minute, when Dunfermline had done everything possible to kick the fuck out of us and we were on the receiving end of the lion's share of dreadful refereeing decisions, I realised that I wanted us to beat them more than I've wanted to beat a team in a very long time. Well in, Jig, Big Jon and Mohsni! Templeton on instead of MacLeod was a poor decision, only complaint I'd really have to make to Ally. He doesn't know the meaning of unselfish play, most of his runs could have ended productively if he'd passed rather than trying spectacular efforts which he doesn't have the skill to finish, but he's been like that the whole time he's been at the club and is yet to properly impress me. Overall though, I'll happily take the 3 points! Mon the Gers!
  18. I can't use the return key when I post on here, frustrating as fuck, why I rarely post (bet everyone's gutted about that ). Also, fucking hell, is this still going?
  19. We agree on this much. I really don't get how people can't make the distinction between an entire country and a football club in the East End of Glasgow... Using it to support Daly would no more mean we were supporting Celtic than our use of Red White and Blue means we're endorsing North Korea: Kim Jong Un Loyal.
  20. What about if it represents our top goal scorer?
  21. This should really put an end to the whole discussion. The Republic of Ireland is not the same as Celtic Football Club or the IRA regardless of the perceptions of people who lack the mental capacity to distinguish between the three.
