Did Smith not spend about £40mil at a time when we supposedly struggling for money?

The club is there to be supported if you choose to or not. It owes you nothing in terms of results or performances.

Whatever happened to following/supporting the team no matter what? Or do people only "support" the team because they expect them to win everything? Would you still be a supposed "supporter" of the club if it wasn't for the trophy count? Seems that David Murray didn't just ruin the club, he also ruined the fans by making them think they "deserve" to be entertained and for the team to win everything. Stop being gloryhunters.

If they are so blind, why did they give him a 5 year contract? I think there were quite a few people who complained that although McKay was quick and exciting, he had no real end product and it had to be worked on. What better way to work on it than learning from older, more experienced players? As previously mentioned, if he does had a bad attitude and is late for training etc. should the club just bend over for him because he has "talent", or should he be told to get his arse in gear?

I think he's an exciting player. If he was playing today then it's fair enough to let him rest. If he never showed up in time and still hasn't sorted his head out after last year then fair enough.

And I will only be annoyed at the Megastore being forced closed during the rugby if they were allowed to have theirs open at the OC.

Fair enough that they didn't need any improvements, but if someone offers you a free makeover at someone else's expense I doubt you'd turn it down?

I can understand where you're coming from, and agree with you that the national stadium should have been used, but councils are about spending as much of other people's money as they can to make themselves look good, and having it at Parkhead allowed them to do exactly that. And I'm sure that there are lots of regulations required for events like this, so if no improvements were made at Ibrox and the surrounding area then we either didn't need them or we didn't push hard enough for them. Does Parkhad even qualify as a 5 star stadium yet?

Fair enough that focusing on only one area of the Glasgow clubs, and including a lot of their famous supporters, instead of choosing the neutral choice of the National stadium does seem a bit suspicious, but maybe it was just the option that allowed them to improve the most for the city? Aren't the areas around Ibrox and Hampden a bit more residential and business related than Parkhead?

This post? If it was a reduced capacity then I guess the size of the stadium didn't really matter. But if the agenda of the games is to help out those less fortunate, and help revitalise Glasgow, then I think it makes sense to use a stadium in that area as the focal point? I was not aware they had made improvements to the stadium specifically for the opening ceremony. Do you have a list, and pricings, of what these were? I drove through that area for the first time in about 5 years at the end of the world cup and I have to say the place looked completely different, so it's bound to be a boost to the area and maybe attract new business - I just wonder how long it will stay looking that way. I think I heard some people say that they couldn;t manage to get rid of one of the "bars" in the area and it looks like an eyesore.

Surely there are more historical features in Govan that people would be keen to hang on to than there are in Dalmarnock?

I suppose you can argue that the inclusion of Stewart, Connolly, McAvoy and Subo can suggest a leaning towards a certain mentality of viewer, but who would you have balanced it out with along with Amy McDonald? I have no issue with the opening ceremony being held at Parkhead - it was the area most in need of development and had the largest capacity for an audience. Other than their stadium hosting the opening ceremony, the games have nothing to do with that club. The only thing that would annoy me is if the area around Ibrox had been passed over for development due to that SuperIbrox/Casino idea that was suggested - as it could have easily been a story generated to prevent that.

Even if Ally performed half as well as he did last season - which would mean winning the league by only 20 points - people would still want him out.

Are people not going to complain about how we should have kept him just to take advantage of his connections and youth coaching potential?

Even if only 10 happened at Ibrox, how many of the 697 involved Rangers fans?? I suppose these figures could suggest that religiously motivated complaints aren't properly dealt with, or that sectarian complaints are being treated as racially sensitive ones?

people would have complained that the better players weren't being kept up to speed for the cup games. if we did play more youngsters, people would have moaned about games when we drew or lost - that cant be good for young player's confidence. no matter what happened, people would complain.

But the way people have been carrying on about Telfer, you think he would have single handedly won the match?

Has Telfer's stats for the youth team/reserves been posted?

I'd say that he seems to be the type of player to beat a guy and go on wee runs for himself, not just cross it in for Daly to header.

Next year is the only year that the Ramsdens Cup will matter for me. He's shown that he can get to the final, now he just has to win it.
