  1. It's a lack of goals against the likes of Dundee and St Mirren that could cost us the league. I wouldn't be too quick to write him off
  2. When I look at the last game I can't see anything but a win for them. When I look at results and performances since the last game, especialy in Europe, then I can't see anything but a win for us. Gio needs to tell the guys this is a CL qualifier, which it largely is.
  3. 27 years ago today he was taken from us. Much too early. I rember first seeing him play for Clydebank at Kilbowie Park back in the 70s.
  4. Bodo could very well win this first conference. If they do or even get to the final there's bound to be offers coming in from Germany Italy Holland etc, so likely to be out of our price range. I'd be having a good look accross the city to see how it pans out for their Japanese players. The far east is likely to be where the vallue is.
  5. On European night I always think of Julius Caesar asking the Roman senate for more funds. He said " we've killed 50,000 Gauls and with more funds we can get complete victory" One senator stood up and said "I've been taking to the troops and you only killed 25,000 Gauls" And Caesar replied " yes but we killed them in Gaul and away Gauls count double" Obviously there's been a rule change but it still makes me smile.
  6. Not saying I wish we never one the league. Nor am I saying we can't win this one as well. Just saying that there may be a bit of a sting in the tail.
  7. We were all ecstatic last season when we won the league. Not just because we won the league, but because we stopped the 10. But at what price? We threw the kitchen sink at winning the league last season, but it was a symbolic and possibly Pyrrhic victory. Winning the league this season is in practical terms more important than last season. But I fear that the short term emphasis on stopping the 10, will have long term consequences
  8. Confidence is obviously high after Thursday, but this will be a tough one. Hopefully an early goal to settle the nerves
  9. Brilliant result. I'm more concerened about the league but I'll just enjoy the momment
  10. Kyogo should still be out injured. However if he makes a recovery, they will have all of their top scorers available, whilst we would only have Sakala and Tav.
  11. I was looking at the top scorers in the SPFL. Both us and them have 5 players listed. We have 29 goals they have 28. For the next game they look like being without kyogo who scored 8. We look like being without Alfie 8 Roofe 6 Aribo 6 and if Sakala doesn't make the first 11 that's another 5 gone. Itten has got his work cut out.
  12. If we win the cup and lose the league would you be happy? Yes we want to win both and could win both, but for the last two days fans have been questioning squad size and demands on players. If we took a risk and tried some youth players and rested/protected senior players, that to me is a risk worth taking. Even if it means we go out. If we discover a couple of players who can contribute to our league campaign, that could be a better pay off than getting to the next round of the cup. If we were to go out to Strirling Albion we'd have egg on our face, but £30m can wipe off a lot of egg.
  13. We have one priority this season and that's the league. Although Arbroath are doing well this season we should still be able to beat them with 3 or 4 youngsters in the side. However if we try and fail then we've lost very little but could gain some insight into what our younsters are capable of. On top of our other missing players Kent will be out for an important league game. With this in mind Friday will be a good chance to experiment.
  14. To me the cup only matters if it's part of a treble, and that bird has already flown. I'd use this game to try out 3 of 4 of our reserve players. Even with a couple more signings we could still be a bit short during the upcoming internationals. Let's see what some of the youngsters can do.
  15. It is a good idea, but where would those players come from. I don't think many of our B team could make the step up. The European market is over priced. So we would be looking at America Africa and possibly Far East. So same problem. celtic have just brought in 3 players and look like losing all of them in a couple of weeks. Also if we bring in more players of a good enough quality to step in, would these players be happy to sit on the bench when we have a full squad available. I would say we MAY need a couple more players, but more than that we need less demands on our current squad.
  16. As has already been said, the problem is the number of players unavailable. It's bad enough having injuries and suspension. Then you throw in the African Nations and World Cup qualifiers. I think it's only Roofe and Sands affected by the latter, but it's two players we might be glad of. I know that the other mob are likely to lose more players, but I think domestic football should be paused if World Cup qualifiers are taking place.
  17. Not sure about putting sands straight in. However "they" started a new signing in midgield last night and he got MOTM.
  18. I often do horses with a Rangers connection, often without luck. However it's normally just a small wager and a bit of fun. Going with Keeper Chris in the 3.25 MR
  19. Hopefully not too many, he's a donkey.
