Daniel Calvarho Joins Al Arabi

Recommended Posts

Brazilian international Daniel Carvalho has joined Qatari club Al Arabi from Russian side CSKA Moscow, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said on Monday. Attacking midfielder Carvalho, who became the first foreigner to win the Russian League player-of-the-year award in 2005, claimed the last of his three caps in 2006.The 26-year-old joined CSKA in 2003, and was instrumental in the Russian side winning the 2005 UEFA Cup where they beat Portugal's Sporting in the final.

He's gone off the boil a bit in recent years, but he's a talented player who really should have tried his luck in a more well watched European League.

However first CSKA Moscow and now Al Arabi.

I can't help but wonder what this guys motives are?

Seems a shame, definitely the cash though, he might go to another league if he gets dropped by Brazil.

hasnt played for Brazil since 06 (tu) but we all know most of the South Americans use their talent to help their families etc out of poverty in their homeland which is fair play to them

He really isnnae that good. Being a brazilian international isnnae a big deal. There is a fast track system in place that any first division player or promising youngster will be given caps at some stag in order they can qualify for wirk permits in europe.

There are a ton of "International"brazilians playing in places like greece, turkey and the middle east.

Some would disagree and thats okay but nay, Carvalho issna my cup o tea

You dont have a good grip on the Work Permit regualtions do you  need to play in 75 % of the last 2 years worth of international games :) so 3 caps would not get him a work permit ;)
