Wullie! 8
Hi,I'm going to be upgrading my girlfriends laptop tonight, and installing Windows 7 on it. She has a built in microphone and webcam, and I was wondering if these would be affected in the process?Laptop is an Acer Aspire. Unsure of the model number. Any help appreciated. Wullie! 8
Will I have to install all the drivers etc again?
jafrfc 614
You might have to install the drivers but it should notify you if that's a problem, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Just a couple of downloads I would imagine.

bluepeter 5,627
Will I have to install all the drivers etc again? Not if you're upgrading Windows, as opposed to installing a new copy on a blank hard drive. If you are putting it on a clean hard drive, just download the required drivers before you do it
Guest
they will be affected if Windows 7 cant find a compatible driver for them. So yes there is a chance of them not working because you are going to install an OS which isn't retail to the product. Hopefully they use the same webcam and microphone model in Windows 7 Acer models or you could be into plums. Are you going to format the harddrive or do an upgrade? because you might lose the OEM Software aswell for them if you format the HDD before installing Win7. fog 289
Questions should be asked to why she is so desperate for a webcam and mic to work
j1mgg 3,766
Is there not a program you can run on the disc to check the compatibility mode. I know XP discs came with this.http://windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor
