Rangers have decided against offering a contract to trialist Joe Sise, the club have confirmed.

The striker trained with Ally McCoist’s side in recent weeks and also featured in a bounce match. But the Sweden Under-21 international has now left Scotland, having failed to win a deal.

A statement on Rangers' official website read: "Sise did reasonably well and showed some decent touches but manager Ally McCoist has decided that he will not progress the matter."

Having left Halmstads at the end of his contract with the Swedish side, Sise is now a free agent but any club willing to take him on will have to pay training compensation for the 21-year-old.

The six foot four forward, who can play on either wing or through the middle, has scored four goals in this season’s Allsvenskan.

He earned two Under-21 caps in 2010 but has not been involved in recent international squads. He played the full second half as Sweden drew 1-1 with Scotland in August 2010.

Oh well. He obviously wasn't good enough, but lets hope that we are still looking for forward options before January as we are still very lightweight up front.
