minnbear 30
SPL chiefs set to rule on Hearts wage delaysJan 4 2012The SPL will meet today to decide what action Hearts are to face over the ongoing wages crisis at Tynecastle.Incredibly, players are still awaiting their salaries for December after being forced to wait for the previous two months’ wages because of financial concerns at the Gorgie club.Owner Vladimir Romanov has put Hearts up for sale after declaring he has lost interest in football and has confessed cash-flow problems are at the root of the delays.Disgruntled players, after initially rejecting the idea, finally made a formal complaint over the issue to the SPL last month via the players’ union, PFA Scotland. The top-flight governing body discussed the problems at their board meeting on December 19 but delayed any decision until today, when a ‘sub-committee’ is scheduled to meet to “adjudicate on the complaint”.Hearts players had to wait 19 days for October’s salaries and 29 days for November’s wages. They are still awaiting last month’s money, which was due on December 16.Any ideas what action they can take ?
Laudoloyal 0
Hearts appear to be holding off payment for as long as they think they can get away with it, then paying. They are in real trouble and the SPL need to act to stop there monsense.
Mor3los_1 3,672
I would be shocked if the SPL actually did anything worthwhile. They'll probably give them another deadline instead of someing serious like a fine ( which would be ironic ) or a points deduction.
ScottBF2 3,540
I'm surprised Ian Black was allowed time off work to play in the Edinburgh derby.
4MenHadADream 122
The SPL will do virtually nothing, and anything they do will be vague and non-committal
boss 1,941
They have indeed done nothing:- December wages must be paid by 11th Jan - plus interest- Hearts must pay the costs of today's hearing- January wages must be paid on 16th- or the SPL will take action
Creampuff 22,630
Hearts are more than fucking able to pay the wages, they're just refusing to until they're forced to.
Carsons Dog 9,878
I think the SPL might write them a stern letter
