Some Of Our Support

A football team and business. Yes. Both parts need to flourish. If the business is the focus at the expense of the football club in this kind of way, the football club will be in dire danger of losing it's appeal.

The business will not flourish by axing these staff. It's too much of a drop in the ocean. The heart of the club will be damaged, though, which in the long term is more likely to help kill the club AND the business than it is to help the business.

The business will only be helped by tackling the real issues, not axing easy, small targets.

Why don't we sell the actual family silver, as well as the metaphoric family silver. That is the logical conclusion of the business over club heritage argument.

Making any person redundant is always regrettable especially if they are long serving and at the lower end of the wage spectrum. But, maybe this is the only way they can cut costs in the short term. How else can they reduce the running costs?

Not by cutting a few moderately paid staff. If that's all they've got we're stuffed. That will achieve virtually nothing.

Anyway, addressing costs is far less important than addressing income. Our current outgoings would likely be sustainable if we were not a basket case in all sorts of ways.

Absolutely, there are many level headed, realistic posters on here in this thread like yourself

Unfortunately the brain dead on here seem to shout the loudest & pour all their anger in the wrong direction. The "some of our support" thread title goes on to mean FF, as if they actually have any power in whatever dreamt up agendas exist in the mind of those brain dead.

The fact this nonsense still goes on disgusts me considering what the club has went through. We're an incapable support & other than the RFFF, have done nothing to campaign for a solution

Some of our fans.......

Pfft

Some of our fanasare obsessed with FF and hating other fans rather show support for the club.

Some of our fans spend the whole day hating all the ex players and managers.

Some of our fans sit watching dodgy links to save money rather than go to the games and giving money to the club that it so badly needs.

Some of our fans refuse to change one word of a song so rather not sing it at all.

Yeah but some of our fans are good cunts.Lets no forget aboot they ones.

Both income and costs have to be addressed but while we are in the lower divisions our income is going to be limited (and not helped with boycotts and poor standard of football). Therefore, it is critical that we get our running costs down as our burn rate over the last two years have been totally unsustainable. It would have been better if we had not wasted so much on playing staff but we are where we are and we have to find savings wherever we can.

Our running costs would be fine if we didn't have boycotts of tickets and merchandise, The costs would be matched by income.

However, suppose we do need to cut costs, and suppose we're serious about cutting them, the the only way to do it is not to pay ridiculous wages to management, board and playing staff and to have a smaller squad. It's this and the ridiculous payoffs that are the problem, not a few staff paid a relatively modest wage.

The Board are missing the point by going for these fringe costs. The major troubles are the ones that need addressed. They are doing fuck all to arrest our decline by cutting these club stalwarts. You're deluding yourself if you think so, and accepting the gutting of the heart of the club at the same time.

It's regrettable but I don't think they can do anything else to save money at present time. Players and management will all be on contracts and it will cost more money to get rid of them than any saving. I agree that we should have been more prudent in our dealings in regard to players, management, etc but that train has now left the station. A lesson for the future hopefully.

The damage has already been done regards most of the profligate spending (contracts, payoffs etc). Saving, what, 1-200k a year on minor staff is still going to have zero effect beyond harming the soul of the club. The Board are as well taking the small hit for that.

Nothing really can be done until contracts expire. What CAN be done is finding a way to unite the support so that income starts to flow again. Sacking stalwarts won't help with that either. It's their responsibility to try their best to find a way, however difficult boycotters are determined to be.
