How does the league work these days. How many times do we play each team, before the split?

I am guessing 3. How do they work out home and away. Before and after the split?

You West Australians are going to give those of us who live in the civilized parts of Australia a bad name, mate.

The home/away fixtures are based on a prediction as to how teams will finish based on the previous season or something is it not? To try and get it as close as possible that the big teams will play each other twice home and twice away overall. It's something like that, meaning sometimes it won't work out and the home-away aspect will be askew.

What's the good points

Allows a 12 team league (which is about right imo) without too many games. Same number of games (4) against the bigger teams and fewer against the wee ones (3) so fewer shit games for us. End of season dogfight games between bottom teams, top teams and teams fighting for Europe. Something extra to play for for mid table teams, namely being in the top 6 at the split. The end season playoff for relegation has been very exciting too.

It's a bit shit for mid table teams because after the split you can't climb any higher in the league. So effectively team X could be in 7th before the split, but actually finish the league with enough points to be in third place. Albeit the last 5 games would be against easier opposition than if they were in the top 6 before the split.

Yeah, that's thevpoint. As you say they only finish with more points because it's shit teams they play against.

Best way is to just take it as two separate leagues from that point then that's not an issue. Its just a small problem of perception.

Should be a 16 team premier league playing each team home and away once...with 3 going down and 3 coming up

A 16 team championship that should have playoffs for the 3 rd spot....

A 3rd div should have 10 teams ....with 2 getting promoted ....

sorted!.... :thuglife:

30 game season would be shite though

Teams won' agree to so few games. Too costly. Also, only one home OF and sheep game a season sounds deal to me. Not to mention that it would destroy the Championship, which is a right good wee league just now.
