Popular Post govanblue 16,847
And the highlight of the night for me?… So this is Jim, a new Resident in Ramsay House (Bishopton Home). Sadly Jim lost his wife recently, so he hasn’t been up for partying that much, and hasn’t had a chance to get to Ibrox for a match, and in fact didn’t even really know that going to the matches was an option. (He knows now. ) Jim’s Grandfather played for the Light Blues, back about 1900, and Jim used to stand in the Govan Stand back in the day, but hasn’t been back at Ibrox for many years, which explains why he was smiling constantly from the moment he arrived. About 7:30, I bumped in to Jim in the corridor, heading back to take his seat for the match, still smiling. He’d been the length of the corridors, taking in The Trophy Room, The Blue Room and everything else on offer – or so he thought. I gave him an about-turn, marched him back in to the suite, and over to an inauspicious wee wooden door. The look on his face as he saw the staircase, climbed the stairs and then saw ‘The Govan stand’ and the rest of the view from the Director’s Box was priceless. It turns out there’s quite a lot of stairs to get to John Greig’s seat, and some of them are pretty large steps. But Jim wasn’t for stopping. It was great to hear him reminiscing about the old stand, though not so much the toilet facilities! To be honest, I think he would have gladly sat there all night if we’d let him, but that Star prize wasn’t going to win itself, so reluctantly we headed back inside. And now that Jim know’s there’s a seat in the West enclosure with his name on it, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of him at Ibrox in the coming months. Now, who hasn't made their End of Season donation yet?? 16BlueSherbert90, bornabear, Ibroxbornandbred and 14 others

govanblue 16,847
I've had an email from RSEA thanking us for our support of the event, and letting us know how much they raised in total - but I haven't seen it announced anywhere else yet, so I'm going to sit on that for now. What I can tell you is that in total, The RM Erskine Fund spent: £360 on tickets for Erskine and Bravehound£120 on Giant Football Card entries for Erskine - Yes, of course we won the star Prize - we always do!!! £120 on Raffle tickets for Erskine. I'm not sure if we won anything or not. I was busy elsewhere.£30 on RSEA pin badges.£50 for the Bar. That might sound a bit skimpy for 12 Erskine Veterans, but they already had a load of free drink vouchers, and apparently, a Very Generous Bear approached Erskine when I wasn't there, and also gave them a wad of cash for the bar. So all in all, that may sound like quite an expensive night - but here's the beauty of it... Apart from the £50 for the bar, all that money spent goes back directly to Erskine and Rangers Youth Development Company - so basically every penny we spent is working double at supporting our Veterans and our Youth - And the Veterans get a Top Night Out as well! Plus that Steven Gerrard framed shirt will raise Erskine a pretty penny at one of their Charity auction nights. Oh, and as if that wasn't enough, I've also received a smashing donation from the Veteran Bears at Erskine Bishopton Care Home. Yes, you heard correctly. The Erskine Bears have been doing a little bit of fundraising themselves and have donated £270 to the Best Cause they could think of. Let that be an inspiration to us all!
