"The Eredivisie - the top tier of football in the Netherlands - has been abandoned for the season with no title winner and no teams relegated."

Wouldn’t it be nice to see the Scottish media run with this story and push it to the hilt.

This every day of the week, and if Liverpool have to give their title up too, will really show up those tims for the despicable self interested bastards they are,

Respect to Alkmaar, Ajax, and the other Dutch clubs for doing this. It sits well with me as an ordinary football fan who knows what is the most important in life.

Ajax are a team who are respected throughout the world as instigators of "total football".

They introduced this concept to win against rigid, static line ups in football, heavy in defence, which were instigated by Italian teams of the late sixties who were experts in stopping other teams scoring and won many games by stealing a goal or two and defensively preventing the other team from scoring. A tactic which was very successful, but nullified excitement and innovation in the game. (May have also have been influenced by a totally corrupt football regime in the Italian leagues and Europe in the late sixties where one dodgy goal was usually enough to win a game.)

Total football was a joy to behold, players encouraged to be creative in all areas on the park, and able to interchange with each other, and created the superb Ajax and Dutch national sides of the 70s.

Ajax were also instrumental too in creating the "youth academies" in the 80s which created a flow of young unbridled creative players who went on to great success, coincidentally most effective in the Italian leagues of the 80s 90s, which created a whole new style of Italian football in the 80s/90s  making the Italian league the best in the world.

Basically one of the great and most respected teams in Europe.

So for them to have made that decision it takes football not only to a higher level, but also  takes them to a higher level of integrity and respect themselves.

Wonder if the other European league associations will follow suit.

In the meantime we know full well how the Scottish authorities are reacting. Shame on them.

Football is insignificant just now. Scottish football are even more of a laughing stock with the way it’s been handled.

Unreal if the EPL follow suit. I reckon the scousers would revolt.

Pitchforks the lot.
