Agree on Cherki as he was good the last time we played them, hadn’t heard of Fofana until last night but thought he was excellent.

Genuine question, given your view on their attack to our defence I assume you were expecting us to get pumped?

Personally I looked at them mostly as names like Matic, Tolisso, Lacazette etc as being good in their day but by their best hence why they were at Lyon and thought draw would be a solid result, which is looking stupidly optimistic 😂

To be quite honest, I didnt expect anything from the match. We are at the start of a rebuild with young inexperienced players while slashing our wagebudget in the process.. they went out and spent 150 million in the summer. They have had a slow start to their season, but you saw how quality will kill off a team like ours when we dont take our chances. First sniff of a chance and they score. We should always go out to win games, of course, but there are certain games that we will be targetting as 3 pointers. Malmø was one.. Lyon was probably not.

Tbh I go into most games expecting a win, with the exception of the tarriers where it’s more about hope sadly.

Europe my expectation is lower but maybe on the back of an excellent performance last week probably thought we could have did better last night.

Seems mad but even now I think if we go 1 up with Cerny’s sitter rather than a minute later going a goal down to the inevitable avoidable mistake then that game could have went another way but all ifs and buts.

Malmø are nowhere close to Lyon in quality. I do agree on the Cerny chance. We had a few chances, actually.. Could have been a different game if we took them early on.

The space we leave is school boy stuff.  Aye the centre-backs got exposed, but zero cover. Tav is now hopeless, can't even jog back.  Jefte good going forward but not a great defender. Lawrence hides up the park. Dessers loses the ball each time it goes near him. Much of this is on big Phil.
