Murray and Whyte and what could have been

Recommended Posts

Just thinking this morning now we are joint top of the SPL where we belong I saw this a few weeks ago:

https://www.sportbible.com/football/football-news/champions-league-logo-stars-129613-20231003

This got me thinking we now hear all the time about us and the filth can’t compete in the Champion’s League group stage yet alone qualify to the knock out stage.

For us it’s due to Murray and Whyte who between them bankrupted the club with their mismanagement and we had to rebuild and work our way back up the divisions but what is their excuse they had seven years of free entry into the competition OK most of it was through qualifying stages until we rebuilt the coefficient in the Europa League.

They have a war chest of £70 million while we try and break even every season.

I’m not a fan of our current board but I will say they have got it right with the appointment of Clement and how much did he spend in January and we’ve caught up with celtic with over a quarter of the season left to go and two old firm games as well.

We lost the first two but shouldn’t have and thinking back to the dark days of 2012 we’ve done well and maybe we can get back and be able to compete with the big boys in the Champions League….we’ve done it in the Europa League we got to the final and lost out on penalties.

No thanks to Murray for not doing his due diligence and Whyte for not paying his VAT.

champions league is much higher level than europa. i'm proud of what we done in europa and it was a baw hair away from winning it but it's not like we're going to get near a europa final on a regular basis. if we are ever to win the CL it'll be many years and hundreds of millions of £'s away. we can't really compete with the likes of Real Madrid or top english/german teams.

If you look at how Gio elevated that team in the Europa to how the team Clement is driving on it has striking similarities. Looking at it now I dont think again there is many teams who will want drawn with us this season.

I would take a Europa journey everytime for those nights under the lights, the stadium cam, the goals it made your hair stand on end.The champions league you know your going to get gubbed at some stage.

Make us dream again Philippe ,when he experiences that he will never want to leave it was truly spellbinding

1 hour ago, The Ibrox Derry said:

Let's be honest, celtic, titles and trophies apart, which, given our circumstances, were a given, have made a cunt of it in the last 10 years.

What we have achieved, from the ashes, has been nothing short of a miracle.

They've won like 34 trebles.

What more could they have done (domestically)?

They're brutal in Europe but that's just their level.

We’ve had teams with some pretty good athletes that set up really well for the Europa.

Bassey, prime Tav, Kent, Morelos, Aribo, Kamara, Lundstrum etc were all fast and powerful and perfect to play on the counter.

I can’t see this current squad going on a run but equally we have a manager and a mentality that sees us grind out better results domestically.

And the league is all that matters this season for me
