Craigy 0
Would we be able to afford the wages? MATT TAYLOR will leave Bolton if they are relegated - even though he only signed from Portsmouth for £3.5million in January. Reading and Sunderland are waiting to pounce for the midfielder who specialised in long distance goals for Pompey but who has found life at the bottom of the Premier League far less lucrative. The Royals are also ready to snap up Birmingham central defender Liam Ridgewell, despite him also being a new arrival from Aston Villa, as Steve Coppell sets about ensuring his side don't endure another season struggling against relegation. Busy Reading have their eyes on Wolves £2m-rated midfielder Michael Kightly, but could face competition from Newcastle if they sell James Milner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEST HAM have offered midfielder Steve Sidwell an escape from his Chelsea hell. A £2million fee has been agreed for Sidwell, 25, who has scored one goal in 25 appearances for the Blues.

disgruntled_bear 157
Sidwell would be a Great signing for us! he's the same kind of player as Davis IMO
OlegKuznetsov 10,816
£2M for Sidwell? Not good enough for Rangers. He's not even worth that price. A poor man's Charlie Adam. If he's got half a brain, he'll stick with his big money contract at the Bridge. An impostor of a player who made his name off the back of a few lucky deflections. Bit harsh, crap because he can't get into one of the most stacked midfields in the world

Muff 245
Sidwell is a quality player. £2m is an absolute steal but I can't see him going for that much. I'd take him in a heartbeat!

I don't think you can say that. I've seen a lot of him. Looked not bad as a youngster but once he hit the bottle he was never the same. He's done nothing of late. Stuart_RFC 41
Sidwell would be a quality addition for us, and we could realistically get him, but unfortunatly i think he will stay in the Prem.
docspiderman 1,315
People do not seem to realise what wages premiership players get and how reluctant anyone would be to reduce their earnings by 60% plus by coming to the spl. We could pay bosmans more by incorporating a perceived transfer value and wages into a package but paying a fee and their accustomed wages would be a huge problem for us. Davy 68
Apparently Sidwell is getting about £40,000 p/w at Chelsea. If he leaves, I don't think it will be for much less than that which is well out of our price range unfortunately. He would be a quality signing though. Taylor would be a good signing aswell and may be a bit more affordable in terms of wages. I don't think there would be any shortage of interest from Premiership clubs though and I wouldn't fancy paying any more than £3m for him.
Guest Andypendek
i thought sidwell looked the biz at reading, but i'd rather have kevin nolan tbh.

Adam 0
both would be decent, liked Sidwell in his great season with Reading, but u never know what a season in a reserves does to a player despite the quality
