Boab 73
David Weir has paid tribute to fellow Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra for successfully filling the void left by Carlos Cuellar. Fans were furious when Cuellar was sold to Aston Villa for £7.8m in August, fearing his departure would have a detrimental effect on Rangers' title hopes. But the Spanish centre-half has all but been forgotten at Ibrox just a few short months later thanks to the form of Bougherra at the heart of defence. Bougherra was recruited from Charlton in the summer and the Algerian has yet to put a foot wrong since being catapulted into the team alongside Weir. "Replacing Carlos was going to be hard for whoever was asked to do that and they have been big boots to fill," said Weir. "But Madjid has come in and taken to things straight away. He deserves great credit for that. It's a big compliment to him that he has made the fans forget about Carlos very quickly. advertisement "That was a big ask but he has done it. He keeps things simple and that is the nature of being a defender. He has good habits." http://www.theherald.co.uk/sport/football/..._by_Cuellar.php
Guest
well done to Magic, his introduction to Rangers has been underpinned heavily, like Davie Weir said, the man has came in and made us forget about Cuellar very quickly and i never thought that would be the case. Carlos who?

nvager 498
Is he better than Cuellar? A great replacement in any case. Now we just need a similar player to replace Weir - and NOT Big Lee

Bourgerra has been a great signing for us though

Youllneverwinaway 0
Yep. Defo one of Watty's gems(there arent many) As others have said, we should be looking for another one right now to replace Weir who hasnt made a 10 yard forward pass to a Blue jersey in 8 months. Dont mind the big guy staying on by the way as i hear he does a tremendous amount of work with the younger lads and he is an excellent example of a professional but we need some younger fitter legs in there. I suppose it depends on what happens between now and the end of the season.

J_RFC87 761
I wouldn't like to see him leave. Is Marseille stumped up £10 mil though, let Walter's record of bringing in a center half keep on rolling.
