Tim Vickery tears into the South American rankings, especially Argentina and Peru:

South American football only has 10 countries, and the Peruvian league would struggle to come 15th even there!

Can anyone argue with the top two anyway? Poor Scotland, behind the might of Belgium.

It is shocking that we're behind Belgium as a league. Although I know Belgian clubs find it easier to sign foreign players as its easier to gain work permits. A lot of African players use belgium as a way of getting themselves into Europe

Italian clubs had a generally poor season in Europe last year (Serie A actually scored fewer points in UEFA's coefficient system than the SPL) so I don't see how it ended up as the second best league. UEFA's coefficient system makes a lot more sense and doesn't have us ranked below leagues like Denmark and Belgium - what Danish side has rivalled the achievements of a UEFA Cup final or last 16 in the Champions League recently? Even Aberdeen hammered Copenhagen 4-0 last season.
