Donald Trump Considered Buying Us

Some of you seem to think he has more money than he actually does. He wouldn't be doing The Apprentice every year if he had serious money. He's no Abramovich.

There is no way he can lose £10m per year and continue his lifestyle. I'd be surprised if he had $50m in cash.

Funny that the trump idea was touted less than a week ago on another Gers forum/mail-list. As a joke I might add.

We now have Scotland's media giving credence to the idea. Or did they steal the idea - surely not!!!

Just what are you insinuating with that statement?

This

And why anybody would want him at the helm mystifies me, he runs everything he owns into the ground- he's bankrupted casinos, how is that even possible?!?

Years ago I am sure he was in so much debt that the banks had to stick with him, and the rest as they say is history.

He's a few billion in the hole on a fair number of his projects. I have no clue how he's allowed to persist.

Played a shrewd game with all his media work and if he falls what tumbles with him.

Mental that in this country you can get 90 days behind on payments of $1500 and they take everything, but a fucker like that can miss payments on one hotel totaling $1.4b and he just skates on by. His tower in Chicago is a fucking eyesore, too.

So have you settled in back on home turf00000042.gif

Getting there! Still a bit of a shitshow at this time but it's coming along. Now officially a sole-proprietor, although still making no money at this time laugh.gif But at least I'm not making money for someone else 00000042.gif

Donald Trump only has a passion for Donald Trump.

(tu) If Scotland really wants to get results with wind power, the powers-that-be could anchor him to a rock and hook a few thousand turbines up to his mouth. Problem solved.

The people saying he's a billionaire, he can do whatever he wants etc..

He is a billionaire for a reason. He didn't get where he is today by spunking cash everywhere.

Actually, that's exactly what he's done for the last ten years or so, just with other people's money.

And a deposition in a defamation lawsuit filed by Trump provides numerous examples of him stretching the truth about his success in real estate. Former New York Times editor and reporter (and current Huffington Post national editor) Timothy L. O'Brien wrote in his 2005 book, "TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald," that the developer was probably worth $150 to $250 million, rather than the typical estimates of $2 to $3 billion. Trump sued O'Brien for libel, claiming that the book's lower figure killed some potential deals and damaged his reputation. The case was dismissed, but Trump filed an appeal and a decision is pending. Trump's deposition, taken on Dec. 19-20, 2007, was obtained by The Huffington Post and CNN.

What a load of bollox.

Trump is one of the greatest examples of brand promotion in the world. Having just been to the states and stayed in one of his hotels in new York he not only promotes his brand but delivers a quality product from start to finish.

I also has the opportunity to speak to someone very close to Trump during my time over there and I was assured he was very seriously considering buying us. Make no mistake, this would have been fantastic for our club to have someone of this magnitude at the helm of the club. He would have the ability to make the most of our brand across the globe.

I was gutted to learn that he wasn't going to go through with the deal but would love to see him change his mind on this.

FFS, get real. So you know him 'cause you just visited the states? I've lived here now for over 30 years, and that man is an arrogant horses' arse, and always has been. Aye, he'd promote us all right - with his fucking name splashed across the front of our jerseys in flashing LED lights. The ONLY thing he is interested in promoting is himself.

And what's wrong with that?

What person buys a football club without some interest in self promotion?

Did D Murray have as high a profile before he bought us? Likewise even guys like Abrhamovich have gained additional fame through club ownership. How would Trump be any different?

We are a brand that I consider to be under promoted and Trump, love him or hate him, is extremely good at the promotion and development of his brand and would have been great for us

You're well entitled to your opinion & no disrespect to you m8, I just detest that man with a passion (could ye no tell? ;) ); I need something positive to give me hope after the fiasco of CW, so he's the last person I'd want to see involved with our club.

Fair enough - he is certainly a love hime or hate him type of guy.

Although at least we know what we would be getting form him as opposed to the unknown and the unpleasant surprise package that was Craig Whyte. I would also have loved to see him get tore in to Regan and Co at the SFA!
