The predominant opinion in Australian cricket is that Mitchell Marsh is the future. He's absolutely the better batsman of the two, and takes more wickets than Watson, but he's a very raw bowler. He'll throw a bad ball in a little too often and Australia like the spare seamer to be a holding bowler, rather than a strike bowler.

Given the spare bowler is only bowling 10 overs a match, I don't much see the point. I'd be inclined to just pick Shaun Marsh. As it is, they like the balance of an all-rounder. They just would have preferred Watson have one more series to give Marsh more time to tune his bowling technique.

Marsh is a much better player in 2015 than Watson. There's only so long you can be a talented underachiever before you're just not good enough.

Watson would be the most disliked cricketer ever to play test cricket for Australia. We have a problem at the moment with a genuine allrounder, but Marsh is a far better option than Watson. Not many of us over here are disappointed to see the back of Watson.

He could still be an option for the limited overs but not for tests. He has scored 4 measly centuries in 109 innings for Australia; is injury prone and rarely bowls so how he has retained his place over the last few years has us stumped (no pun intended)

A guy born in Glamorgan made his ODI debut for Pakistan yesterday as we battered Sri Lanka. 1 more win and we qualify for the Champions Trophy (ridiculous that we are even in the position we're in at the moment). Onwards and upwards, we're building a good, young, stable team.

Yasir Shah continuing his meteoric rise to the label 'best spinner in the world'.

Great game. It's a real shame County cricket is dying on its arse.

The attendance shows how little interest there is in county cricket. Which is a shame as last night shows still a pretty decent standard. I think the problem is that there is so much international cricket the big names as such never play county cricket. Only form that draws crowds is T20.

Who in their right mind thought that was going to happen?

What a day for England. If they can get to 350 by tea tomorrow, it puts heaps of pressure on the Aussies.

I've never seen a cricket series with so many twists since 2005, it's like watching 6 different sides out there

Crazy day yesterday, Thought it was a disaster for England losing the toss but what a turn around. If they can get a big score and be 350/400 ahead by tea today. The beauty is there is no pressure on to score quick runs. Root and Bairstow can simply take their time and score when they can no need to force the ball. Delighted Ian Bell got runs pretty soft way to get out. Cook was going very well got out through no fault of his own. Lyth I would say will now be dropped unless he scores big if England bat again.

Certainly no way to predict what happens next. Makes it really interesting as Anderson said England would have batted if they won the toss so a bullet dodged.

Bell looked back to something like form then does that. Although Nathan Lyon has a habit of springing the odd surprise. Maybe he has learned something from Warne. :)

Warner looks looks like the man to get. If they can knock him off soon they could realistically get 6 or 7 today before end of play.

2 out there in 2 balls. 77 for 4, they'll need to see out the day because the way it's going it'll be over by lunch tomorrow.
